Senbon Nichikatsu (千本日活)

Senbon Nichikatsu is a small adult cinema on Senbon-dori in Kamigyo Ward that has served for years as one of Kyoto's best-known indoor gay cruising venues (hattenba), with the upstairs floor in particular a long-standing meeting spot for gay and cross-dressing patrons. Entry is inexpensive (a low admission plus a small surcharge for the second floor). As an established venue it is more sheltered and predictable than the outdoor spots, but the usual discretion, respect for other patrons and awareness of personal safety apply.
