A wonderful hotel! We spent five nights there and enjoyed all the hotel's amenities. The onsen is fantastic (especially in winter!). The sake tasting was excellent! We had a long chat with the employee, who also spoke French. The room was comfortable and spacious. In short, I highly recommend it!

A very good experience. The ryokan staff were very friendly and treated us wonderfully!

I stayed with a friend here for 2 days and on the first day we say that the rooms were dusty. Then, I found out one of my bathroom towel had hair on it and imediately alerted the staff. Also, a very annoying thing was that we could hear and be heard from the other rooms. I could hear my friend talking on the phone or her alarm ringing in the mornings. Not to mentions people in the hallway or at the elevator. Noisy was also outside since our rooms were with view to the street. The onsen if that could be called that is extremly small and they charge for it which is strange considering I haven't seen this in any ryokan I've been in so far. And we have no idea how it was cleaned before us because it was locked when we arrived and the staff didn't tell us after that. All in all I could say it was the worst experience in a ryokan in all 8 years of travelling to Japan

A quiet family room with a truly authentic ryokan atmosphere. We slept very well on the futons, and the hotel offers many activities such as sake tastings and kimono rentals.

Stayed for 5 nights. Amazing!!! Excellent staff, equally excellent food. Even though we had one of the smallest rooms, we had all the comforts, excellent and consistently clean. A great location, close to some temples and restaurants, a quiet neighborhood, and no late-night noise! Japanese-style and luxurious structure, with various amenities that I didn't use, but for personal reasons! Highly recommended.

My first Kyoto visit in decades. Chose this particular hotel because of wanting to stay in Japanese Inn style room. However, my book was messed up with 2 different bookings and different rooms. I asked the staffs whether I can stay in same room, and willing to pay the differences. Next day, I was told that the room issue has been settled, no need to move. We opted breakfast at the hotel. It was good and reasonable price. The hotel is 1km from Kyoto station. And just few hundred meters from famous market. Good experiences.

Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful room. Although everyone was from overseas, I was able to communicate using translation software, which was a bit nerve-wracking but fun. If you're driving, parking in the coin-operated parking lot right in front of the hotel will cost you less than 2000 yen. Be careful, because if you park without checking properly, the cost can be quite high.

My family and I just spent 3 nights here during our trip to Japan. I can honestly say I wish we could have stayed longer. The service was excellent - all the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Karuki helped us out with all our requests and Pierre was a wealth of knowledge and an excellent barman! Any request we had, they were more than happy to help. The place itself was beautifully decorated, with little ceramics displays, a Japanese garden and even torii gates connecting the two buildings. We stayed in a Japanese room with traditional tatami mats and futon bedding which was cozy and comfortable. A sustaining breakfast was available in the mornings, served in an impressive area with soft jazz playing. Sakura Urushitei is in a perfect location, close to Nishiki Market, the GION district and many retail shops. Lots of little restaurants and cafes are dotted around the surrounding streets. This ryokan is truly a wonderful place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our futon experience. The hotel has a traditional style without sacrificing any comforts. Perhaps they should consider extending reception hours, as some guests arrive very early. We especially want to mention Adrián, who spoke Spanish and was very kind.
