Boutique Hotel de Flandre

We find the hotel from booking, when we arrived O was little bit afraid of Google review, but everything was perfect, breakfast, personal , room pretty good. Thanks

We stayed at the Hotel de Flandre for a week and were therefore upgraded to an apartment in a different building. The apartment was generally very nice and quiet, but unfortunately, the floor and sofa weren't clean from the start, and we had to complain. The bathroom was always fine. There's no air conditioning, and we couldn't open the windows because of the mosquitoes. It was much too hot in the rooms. We had to carry our suitcases up the stairs to the first floor ourselves.

Airco was broken in the suite which we unfortunately only discovered when arriving after our restaurant visit. We had to, "attempt" to sleep in a 27 degree room, on a way too hard bed. We only stayed for one night. When mentioning the issues at checkout they kind of shrugged it off. Said sorry and that's it. We paid for a certain level of quality and didn't get it at all. They could have AT LEAST compensated part of the stay

Unpleasant rooms. No privacy whatsoever. People walk past the windows and can see right in. Furthermore, there's a terrace right in front of the windows where guests sit, talk loudly, and smoke, forcing us to keep the windows closed and the shutters drawn. Outdated carpet and furniture. Disastrous breakfast service. Poor quality products considering the price. Barely pleasant staff. Only the location is perfect. Poor value for money. Doesn't deserve the stars. Avoid this place; there are better options elsewhere.

A pleasant hotel, very well located in the heart of the city, a 5-minute walk from the Christmas market. The receptionists were welcoming. The breakfast was good, with everything you could need. Our room (No. 6) on the ground floor in the small courtyard next to the hotel was spacious with a comfortable bed. The same was true for the bathroom, which was modern and very spacious with a large walk-in shower. The major problem we encountered was a very strong sewer smell coming from the shower. It was awful to sleep with that smell constantly. The hotel is aware of this problem, as the window was open when we arrived (in December) to try to limit the odors. At night, with the window closed, the air becomes unbearable. Without this sewer smell issue, we would have given it a very good rating.

Room very warm

The hotel is well-located for a stay in Ghent, with a convenient location for visiting the city. The service is professional and the welcome is pleasant. A minor drawback was the room, which could use some updating: it was a bit dated and the air conditioning wasn't working, making it quite hot. Fortunately, it wasn't the height of summer. Breakfast was adequate, though not exceptional. Overall, a pleasant stay, especially considering the location and the quality of service.

The hotel is very well located, and the staff is very welcoming and professional. The common areas are well-maintained and pleasant. Breakfast is adequate, but its price (€25) seems excessive given the quality offered. However, the rooms are a significant disappointment: the layout is reminiscent of a budget motel, the soundproofing is inadequate, resulting in noise from passersby, and the overall condition is dated and dark. The presence of a shared terrace in front of the rooms also generates noise, particularly from guests smoking there. Overall, the service does not meet the expected standard of a 4-star establishment.

What a lovely spot so close to the center. We received a most warm welcome. The room is spacious and tidy with comfortable beds. We enjoyed a good breakfast with a wide selection! Worth repeating!

Stayed a long weekend at Hotel de Flandre. We stayed at the main location. Super good location relative to the city center! Highlights: Room 225. Spacious room, nice, neat, and renovated shower with toilet and sink. The room has two single beds side by side with separate duvets. Tea/coffee, kettle, TV, and mini-fridge! Tasty and fine breakfast; a bit busy because we were with a large group, but otherwise fine. The passageway is a bit narrow. Choice of baguette, brown bread, quark, fruit, and English breakfast (fried egg, scrambled egg, bacon, waffles). Sweets (cakes, croissants, and chocolate croissants) and a wide selection of toppings (salmon, brie, cucumber, tomato, cheese, chicken fillet...). Tips: If the room stays very warm, just go to reception; with us, something kept going wrong with the heating that turned on anyway, causing it to get boiling hot. The air conditioning is only activated later, so it makes the rooms warm. Leave windows open during the day. It is very noisy, especially with outside noises (street sweeper, supermarket, people talking loudly), so we kept the windows closed at night. Tips for Ghent: get a 48/72-hour card, free entry to the Gravensteen, Belfry, museums, public transport, bike rental, sightseeing boat, hop-on hop-off water taxi (although we were disappointed by how little it ran from the GUM museum). Panos sells delicious, affordable sandwiches for lunch; great to eat by the water. We found the Hawaiian bokebowl affordable and tasty for a quick dinner. Furthermore, there is a wide choice of nice terraces by the water. Enjoy!
