It's a camp less known to most visitors to Germany than Dachau...but it's absolutely worth it. Almost everything is still as it was then...you can see the camp commander's house (Himmler) and the stories of all the torturers who did horrible things to the people (there's a medical barracks where doctors explain various things and the experiments they conducted to test medicines, etc.). You can see a barrack where they slept, washed, and even the underground area where the bodies were taken before being incinerated. Finally, there are also the prisons where various political opponents and Jews died. It's a powerful and emotionally charged journey (like seeing the square where the executions took place and where, in the same spot, they put up the Christmas tree). Strong but essential for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the horrors of war.
The heavy history should not be forgotten.
A reality that must be experienced so as not to forget. Highly recommended.
