During a week in Milan, we ate and drank in a variety of places, and my friends and I were treated very well. We had high expectations for this place, two of us being members of the LGBT community, yet this was the only place where we felt unwelcome! We had a decent aperitivo, and the cocktails were good overall, but the atmosphere was rather gloomy. There were only a few customers seated, and the staff immediately made us feel uncomfortable—never a smile, very unfriendly, and arrogant in their welcome. We remained very polite, yet the cashier and the bartender seemed genuinely annoyed by the arrival of us ordinary tourists. It's a shame, since we expected to be "welcome" by them. Perhaps they're used to customers of a much higher caliber. We won't be back!

Mono is a historic venue for Milan and the LGBTQI+ community. Its success paved the way for many other venues to open in the Via Lecco/Panfilo Castaldi area. Excellent cocktails, and delicious happy hour appetizers.
