Scandic Lerkendal

An exceptional hotel, with welcoming rooms equipped with every comfort, even an iron and ironing board. There's no refrigerator, but that's no big deal. The only flaw, which I've also encountered in Oslo and therefore presumably the rest of Norway, is the lack of a bidet. The shower, however, is spacious and well-functioning. Friendly staff. The international breakfast is delicious and extremely varied, highly recommended. The hotel is close to numerous student residences, about a 20-30 minute walk from the city center, or a 10 minute bus ride.

Everything was fine, the only thing that could be improved is booking rooms through Booking.com when traveling with a dog. The property is officially pet-friendly, so you book with your dog, but they still charge a small fee on arrival. Breakfast is definitely worth it: a wide selection and truly delicious, although it can get crowded when there are a lot of guests and it's hard to find a free space. Parking can be difficult at times.

The staff were very friendly, especially at reception. Everything was very clean and tidy.

We stayed one night at this hotel while passing through Trondheim on our journey. The price was reasonable towards AirBnB alternatives and people being so enthousiastic about the breakfast in the reviews made us decide to go for this hotel instead. We got a room with a view into the stadium. Small room with one double bed and two bunk beds, but it was fine. Bit warm. Staff was friendly, but besides the staff at the reception, they didn't seem to be able to speak English, other that maybe a few words. Breakfast was indeed pretty good. Bit weird that people come in from different directions and nobody ever asks if you actually paid for the breakfast addon. Breakfast ran until 10.30 AM. We arrived at 9.00 AM and the breakfast room was swamped with people. Difficult to find an available table that didn't have dirty dishes on them. We ended up at some weird round table in a corner with a plant in the middle and right into our faces. Not the most cosy place to have breakfast with your family, but at least it was a place. They're understaffed towards the amount of people using the breakfast and cleaning tables. The buffet was however actively being restocked and they have like three lanes of the same stuff, so there's seldom a wait. Pretty well organised towards that. Kids have their own pancake buffet outside the main breakfast area. At 10.30 AM sharp we were told, not even asked, to leave the breakfast area as they needed it for lunch, which felt very harsh. I still had a few plates filled with food in front of me and there were still a lot of dirty tables around. Let me finish my breakfast while you fix the other stuff first, I'd say. Hotel staff acknowledged that this wasn't correct behavior by them, when reporting this at the reception, at least. We managed to find free parking at a 15 minute walking distance from the hotel fairly easily. A lot of places have forbidden to park signs. Just drive around and look for places where you can park next to the road where there is no sign and you should be fine. Do not park on roads, even smaller dead ended ones, as that seems to be a crime in Trondheim. The hotel itself does not have much to do, other than a gym. For us passing through, this was fine. Hotel WiFi is of excellent quality and speed.

The breakfast was very good and the location was great. It was a quiet high floor but the room was hot at night.

We have stayed here for three nights and were very satisfied. Nice location with good bus connections. At the same time it is nice to walk to and from the city center. The service at the hotel has been exceptionally good! So accommodating all the time!
