The room is absolutely roasting with zero air con, looks nice enough for the low cost but wow it’s warm with no way to cool it down Had to sleep in the bath tub to get away from the heat And it smelt like bleach in the room the entire time

Welcome to my sauna review. The room itself was very dated had plugs from the 1800s an aircon console that didn’t work (guy at reception said there’s no aircon) and a shower that didn’t go cold. This hotel is perfect if you want to loose weight as you’ll loose it in sweat during your time here as the rooms without windows are well above 30 degrees. I can’t complain however as they are obviously aware of this and give you two fans to help circulate the hot air around the room. I tried to combat the heat by asking reception for another fan which they provided after a swift 30 minute wait we got delivered a fan!!! I was gassed however when it came to plugging it in it immediately killed my high as there’s only 2 modern plug sockets in the room the other 2 are from the medieval times so the spare fan wasn’t too much help. Good location though!. If you stay here get a window room I’m begging. Nobody should have to be subject to the cardboard sweat punishment room.

Hotel is in an extremely poor condition. In one of the meeting rooms the ceiling is literally coming away from the roof. A handrail is completely missing from one of the stairwells. Some of the lights have the covers missing. On arrival I asked a question with regards where a course I was attending was located and the staff did not appear to know what was happening within the venue and did not assist. Worst still they allowed me to walk around the venue to find the course not appearing to know why I was there.

Amazing choice . Room are very big and comfy . Staff is very welcoming and helpfull. Location is great just next to market street

Quite possibly the most unpleasant hotel experience I’ve ever experienced. Would try and avoid if possible. Don’t ignore the bad reviews like we did. Firstly the room had no window, this was something that wasn’t disclosed within the booking. This then lead to the room being way to had as there was no air conditioning. It was too hot to get any sleep, luckily we only stayed for one night. They provide fans but when there is no aircon or windows the fans just blow warm stale air around. Not making the experience any better. Staff were a bit blunt. They had 2 vending machines which had limited stock and were coins only, therefore without coins it was impossible to buy anything from them. The bathroom lacked basic amenities such as only providing 1 towel for 3 people. Finally the plugs next to the beds were non standard uk plugs which was frustrating considering most other hotels always have avaliable sockets. If you want a very dated hotel with no air condition and a lack of basic services this place is good for you.

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in and never again. Very early check out at 10am the reception guy said each hour is 10pounds so if you want to check at 1pm you will have to pay 30 pounds. The rooms were old no air conditioner no fridge. Elevators are sometimes smelly and wet. No swimming pool and gym. The only positive thing about it is that’s close to the shopping mall Arndale.

Brought a brass here, definitely wouldn't recommend to our supreme leader. Will bring the general manager's mother next time

My friend and I like the Britannia so decided to give this one a go and the list of things that are wrong are endless. -the rooms are awful, windowless should not mean airless and even with the ancient fan going full blast literally all day and night the room was unbareably stuffy. Even the loo doesn't have an air vent. My friends room was worse and stayed over 30 degrees the entire time. -Unfriendly staff with one or two execptions at reception and at night the bouncers were beyond rude and judgy when it came to our albeit quite gay outfits for an event -The rooms were dirty and there was no cleaning unless you stay five nights, we stayed four- it's just laziness before and during the stay -One cleaner was playing loud music in the hall at 8 am -The rooms themselves had next to no plugs and none by the bed- and one of two had to be used by the fan -the lighening was awful -the walls are not soundproofed and I could hear my neighbours conversations and into the hall to the point where a knock on someone elses door made me jump multiple times Honestly do not waste your money with this place- I've stayed in hotels across the UK and Europe and never had an experience this bad which is saying something

I had booked a room without a window, but it was unbearably hot. I asked if they could change it to one with a window, offering to pay the difference, and they did so without charging any extra. It was very hot in that room too, but opening the window helped a little. It's a shame they don't have air conditioning in any of the rooms.

The hotel is conveniently and centrally located, not far from the tram...everything else is forgettable! The room was old, not very clean, and had no air conditioning (plus, the window couldn't open).

I was very nervous after I had seen so many negative things said about this place . I was blown away with how accommodating the lady behind the desk was. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing . The room was spacious, very clean and cosy . I think this hotel was wonderful
