Best food for miles around.
We had a delicious lunch! There was a really great selection, and the variety of dishes was impressive. There were also plenty of vegetarian options. A complete success! 👍🏻
We only ate at the restaurant! Creative and delicious dishes! Very friendly and attentive service! Highly recommended!
Sensational food, we had the focaccia, the beetroot starter and aubergine main. Every mouthful sweet, savoury, filled with flavour. Mopped it all up! Not cheap by any means but worth the walk up the hill and passing by the many sandwich shops and cafes.
Wonderfully regenerated pub using organic techniques. I've never slept on such comfortable mattresses and pillows, the fan (the rooms are warm) almost blew us away, the view of an antiquated square was lovely, and listening to the people chatting was enjoyable. We didn't eat main courses, and had breakfast the next day, but wished we'd had, such was the gorgeousness of it! Who knew asparagus, peas and curd on rye bread could be so brilliant! All freshly cooked. Staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. We loved our stay and would go back to room 3 anytime it's available!

We visited a couple of Fridays ago, expecting a Riverford-style celebration of local produce and a warm, welcoming dining experience. Unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver. The service felt awkward rather than friendly. We had to ask how the sharing plates worked and weren't given any introduction to the menu, specials, or the provenance of the food, which felt like a missed opportunity given the restaurant's ethos. Some dishes were very good, the asparagus and roast potatoes were excellent, but others were less impressive. The artichoke was tough, and the trout salad was underwhelming. For four small plates, a Bloody Mary, and a beer, the bill came to around £80. A week earlier we'd spent only slightly more at a tapas restaurant in Exeter, enjoyed far more food, excellent service, and a much more memorable experience. The Bull's ingredients were clearly good, but the overall experience felt overpriced and lacking warmth. I've since spoken to a couple of friends who had similar experiences with the service and value for money. Sadly, it's not somewhere I'd return to, a real missed opportunity.
