Lord Byron is one of several gay bars on Rua Bento Freitas, a short street in central São Paulo between República and Vila Buarque. The bars on the street are small and lean towards cruising. Most of the crowd hops between them, and the strip is busiest on weekend nights.
It works best as one stop on a bar crawl. The Vieira de Carvalho bars are a few blocks away. Keep your phone and valuables out of sight on the street, and use a ride-hailing app to get home late at night.
