Similar booking issues as in other comments. Booked through Booking.com at one price, then received a message saying the price was incorrect and asked for a much higher price. We discussed it, and finally agreed on half the price. When we got to the front desk, the price changed again. Finally, after some discussion, we were forced to cancel through Booking.com and got the agreed-upon price. There's hot water, mold, and street noise is loud until late at night. I generally advise against sleeping in hot water hotels.

The service is quite limited. It's not 24 hours. If you go out at night, you have to let them know because they lock the door. Breakfast is not included.

Terrible service!! I made a reservation at this place, they confirmed it, and I even paid in advance. When I was in Ollantaytambo, about to take my train to Aguas Calientes, I called the hotel to reconfirm my reservation. They told me they'd had a problem with my reservation, that the receptionist hadn't made it, and that they'd received bookings through Booking.com and preferred to accept those. When I confronted them about this, all they said was that if the problem was the money, they could refund it and that it wasn't a problem. How is this possible? We make reservations in advance to avoid these kinds of problems, and the issue isn't the money. The real issue is how people like this woman who answered the phone can be working in a place that should be known for its excellent customer service. And as if that wasn't enough, after putting us through this ordeal, we went looking for another place to stay at 11 pm. We couldn't find anywhere to spend the night; it was 1 am and we still hadn't found a place to stay. We had to spend the night at the train station. Without a doubt, Machu Picchu is impressive, but the locals are the worst. I would never recommend this place.

Average value for money, but that's typical of many establishments in Aguas Calientes. The showers in the economy rooms were lukewarm, but hot in the room with a park view.

The coffee there is awful and the service is terrible.

So I found this place last minute because I wanted to stay on the river side and away from the train tracks. Advice for future travelers, stay away from the train tracks where alot of hotels are, it is loud! People dont get sleep over there. I thought my room was awesome for the price. I booked thru expedia. Super huge bed and beautiful bathroom. So the hot water works but it takes like a full five minutes running before it gets hot. I found the situation similar at another hotel on the same street. Yes there seems to be suspicious dampness and mold issues but again that seems to be the norm for the area. I figured we are just staying a couple nights it wont hurt us. Anyway, some other commenters said they had booking or over charging issues. Indeed, when i was checking in, the lady asked me to cancel my reservation from expedia because she said it was bad for them. Very confusing. But alas I couldn’t because it was too late, so any issue with that for me was sidestepped. Superb room for the price ($40) in a quiet corner of aguas calientes. Maybe i got lucky but i was gonna give this place a great review.

This hostel shares many of the common issues I’ve encountered while staying in hostels across Peru—no hot water, damp and very cold rooms—but what sets this place apart is the unreliable staff. After a change in our plans, we needed to stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes. Instead of moving all our belongings to another hotel (we had already seen many other affordable options), we decided it would be simpler to extend our stay. The receptionist assured us he would reserve a room for us at a good rate. However, while we were at Machu Picchu, we received a message informing us there was actually no room available and that we needed to collect our things and find other accommodation that same evening. This created completely unnecessary stress and forced us to book a last-minute hotel at a much higher price. Had the receptionist not promised us a reservation, we could have easily arranged another affordable place in advance. I’ve since read reviews describing similar experiences with this property. If you choose to stay here, I strongly recommend booking through a third-party and getting any commitments in writing, as the staff cannot be trusted to honor verbal agreements.

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Our reservation wasn't registered upon arrival after we had the same discussion several times. There was no hot water for the shower for us or other hotel guests.

Very attentive and friendly at all times. The room and bathroom were very clean, the bed was comfortable, and everything seemed newly renovated. They looked after our luggage free of charge while we went to Machu Picchu, even though we had already checked out.

We didn’t have the issues mentioned in the other comments. The welcome was nice and square, the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Very good value for money. Of course it is a bit damp, but the whole city is, it’s built above a torrent.
