Romeo Hotel

First off, we were lost trying to find where we check in as there’s no clear sign of the hotel. ROMEO just the door with a buzzer or a doorbell to be buzzed in once you go in it looks like a nice registration area for a basic hotel but then we were told they are one front desk for several different hotels in the area which was really weird in any case it took a little while of getting lost to find the actual gate we needed to go through to find our way to our suite/room. The aesthetics of it being somewhat an ancient type of town hostile is cool ( like the concrete walls and flooring, unfinished floors, cinderblock decor and pipes used as ladders). it lacks a lot of amenities that one would expect to have at a hotel, Motel or suite these days. All of the pipes are exposed, which gives a kind of a rustic feel, but there’s absolutely no hot water whatsoever so taking a hot or even a type of shower is out of the question we prepared to take it cold. The TV is just for decor purposes as it is not a functional TV because you try to log into any app and you get errors. No functioning TV A Wi-Fi password to a Wi-Fi that doesn’t work No hot water And we were given a warning, not to put toilet paper into the toilet bowl Seems like it’s still way beyond the times and needs to hurry up and catch up to the rest of the world. so Grateful that it’s only for one night. Maybe that’s why they gave us this room/suite.

I stayed at the Hotel Romeo for 5 nights and 6 days. The rooms are much larger and more comfortable than they appear in the photos, and the staff in the lobby were incredibly friendly. The facilities were excellent. The pool area and lounge area were very comfortable, and the location was fantastic—a 15-20 minute walk to Old San Juan or a 5-minute drive. Vivian was outstanding! Very attentive and provided 5-star service. I highly recommend this hotel. Very happy!

Probably the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I’ve been travelling for work most weeks for the last 10 years. No wifi, thin walls, noise from other guests, very noisy streets, very noisy bars. If you want to rest, this hotel isn’t for you.

Not far from Old San Juan, but the neighborhood isn't very safe, especially at night. Definitely not from the top bunk.

If you are sharing make sure the person is able to climb a ladder, and also keep in mind if you can you can hear your other persons everything in the other room. Probably great for families not so great for friends sharing. Also the hot water was definitely an issue when it wasn’t working, seemed to take a long time to get hot, most of the time. Some of the staff were amazing, others expected you to know what they were talking about when asking about other services.

Objective review from a travel agent that has been to every continent and stayed at everything from VRBOs to luxury resorts: Elected to stay here due to the positive reviews, relatively close proximity to Old San Juan, and decent rates over the holidays. DO NOT STAY HERE. Details below: Room: First, if you are planning on actually using both beds, do not. The second one is in a "loft", up a pretty unsafe ladder that is definitely not ADA compliant. The room is BARREN. Not nearly as cute as the pictures would make you think. The shower did not have water pressure and would not work at one point. Toilet seat was broken. Bed was uncomfortable, and sheets felt "cheap" (scratchy). Air conditioning did work very well, I will say. Free parking. This is more of a VRBO than a "hotel". Amenities comprised of an underwhelming pool. No coffee, service only from whatsapp messages. Which, I will say that when I had the water pressure issue, they would not pick up the phone. Staff/Service: Plan for check in to be SLOW. I was the only one at the desk and it took 30 minutes. When I needed help with the water pressure, no one was around. I did not get the sense that anyone wanted to go out of their way to be helpful. Location: Walking to distance to Old San Juan, relatively safe, but I will say there are a lot of abandoned buildings in general in San Juan. I was with my husband, but otherwise as a woman, I would have felt unsafe on my own. Faster to walk than uber given the nature of Ubers in the area/traffic.

I was having a great stay until the power went out. They own other properties at the same site and those properties had lights, even the front desk had power. Yet, there was no offer to move me to a room with power. This outage went on for two days. On the second day, I opted to check out. Instead of reimbursing me for the two days of darkness, I was reimbursed for one day which was the last day of my reservation (I left a day early). So, no compensation for my troubles for those two days. This is not how you do business. I'm a travel agent, and I was inspecting the property to determine if I will be recommending it to clients. I will not be recommending this place and I will warn other agents not to bother with this place.

Big room! Clean and comfortable. For.the price pretty good. Kind of a weird area between old san juan and condado, but it makes for an affordable Uber to either. The pool was nice, but a little small for actual swimming. I've stayed in many nicer places, but for the price this is a pretty great deal.

Very Nice Hotel. Staff Was Very Friendly And Was In A Great Location To Everything Especially By Old San Juan. Have A Nice 4 Ft Pool Open All Day To Relax And Swim. Recommend Staying At This Hotel.
