Most Popular Gay Bars Clubs In Birmingham

Birmingham's Gay Village on Hurst Street is one of the UK's most established LGBTQ+ neighbourhoods — a compact strip of bars, clubs, and venues in the Ladywood area near the Chinese Quarter. Small enough to walk end-to-end but with enough variety to keep an evening interesting.

The Hurst Street Scene

  • The Nightingale Club (18 Kent Street) — one of the UK's oldest gay clubs, operating for over four decades. An institution. Drag shows, themed nights, and a large dance floor.
  • The Village Inn (152 Hurst Street) — "Birmingham's biggest and best gay venue for live entertainment and cabaret." Open seven days a week; cabaret is genuinely good.
  • Eden (121 Sherlock Street) — multi-award-winning bar; happy hour Mon–Fri 2–7pm, pool table, garden, smoking area, and a marquee for larger events.
  • Missing Bar (48 Bromsgrove Street) — party bar in the Village; transformed in recent years into a more high-energy option.

Fetish & Cruise

  • Boltz Club (40 Lower Essex Street) — gay cruise and fetish venue with dark room, cinema, and dedicated facilities. Men-only.

Birmingham Pride

Late May bank holiday weekend — one of the UK's largest Pride events outside London, drawing tens of thousands to the Gay Village and surrounding streets. The parade moves through the city centre; the Village hosts stages, food, and entertainment. Book well in advance for accommodation.

Getting there: Birmingham New Street station is a 15-minute walk from the Gay Village, or take a taxi. The city is 1h20 from London Euston by Avanti West Coast. The Village is safe and well-lit; normal urban awareness applies.
