Petra's

Petra's opened in 2007 as a lesbian bar on Commonwealth Avenue in Plaza Midwood. It's now one of the main queer venues in Charlotte, part bar and part small music room. The calendar mixes drag, queer variety shows, live bands, karaoke and lazy Sunday sessions, and the crowd leans queer women, though everyone mixes. Both CharlottesGotALot's 2026 LGBTQ+ bar list and OutXOut include it. QNotes notes that it now presents itself as LGBTQ-friendly rather than a lesbian bar. It's an evening place, generally opening around 7pm. Google reviews average 4.6 from about 600. Check petrasbar.com for the week's shows and any cover.
