Magnolia Dallas Downtown

As a native of Dallas, I needed to stay closer to the city for a conference and chose The Magnolia Hotel based off of the pictures and Expedia reviews. I checked in and checked out literally within 20 min, knowing I wouldn't receive a refund. The room was listed as a Deluxe Queen Room. Upon walking into the room I noticed how old everything was. The lampshade had a hole in it. The furniture was worn. No comforter on the bed, only sheets. I felt like I was in a motel and not a hotel. The front desk staff was very monotone and unapologetic. There was NO concern whatsoever when I clearly checked in and out in less than 30 min. That was disappointing. I understand being Historic, but this was horrible.

Literally writing this while I wait on bath tub to drian so I can shower. Rooms are out dated. Only good thing is that the AC works

Don't believe any of the good reviews that gives this hotel more than 1 star for anything other than location. We stayed one night because we arrived late and had nowhere else to go.

Great location and a comfortable experience, but my room was tired! The carpet was worn, the bathroom was marked but there was plenty of hot water and the bed was comfortable.

I’ve stayed here numerous times. I’ve never had an issue with the place. Jesus at the front desk is awesome. However, today I had a negative experience with the Director, Jorge. I was playing the house piano located on the second floor and was accused of not being a guest at the Magnolia. I was told to leave until I showed him that I was a guest. Super ridiculous to have three employees try to kick me out of where I’m staying. I’d understand if there were playing hours for the piano posted anywhere, but there’s nothing. Representative of how disorganized this hotel is.

Old rooms Not so clean, we were in a suite and the fridge looked horrible, the opening handle was really dirty. There are barely any towels in the room. There was no hot water at night, only lukewarm water in the morning, it was hot. There was no kettle to boil water for tea in the lobby or in the room, only in the morning there is water for coffee in the lobby. Kobe hand soaps like in the 90s, there is no liquid hand soap, I had to ask for it specifically. In short, a good location, a so-so hotel

An antiquated hotel with little amenities and rude staff. Certainly not a "4-star" hotel. The hotel rooms are more like what I would expect at a roadside motel than a high-rise hotel in downtown Dallas. The closet door in my room was broken off the hinges, which required me to lift it out of the way to hang any clothes. The poor customer service I received during my stay was astounding. I had trouble connecting my laptop to the wifi, and asked for help. The lady behind the front desk said "what do you want me to do about it?" I met an incredibly rude manager behind the front desk when checking out, who informed me the valet charge would go to the card I put down for incidentals. I explained the valet needs charged to my company card on file (the one I made the reservation with), not my personal card. She told me they "don't do that". I explained again that's what was needed, and to my surprise she said I "should have just told her that". That's what I just explained? She then told me I'd need to "wait for the charge to go through" before she could give me a printed receipt.. even though she had just emailed it to me. I asked how long I'd need to wait, she said 5 minutes. I agreed to wait. She handed me the receipt not even 1 minute later.

Rooms are pretty good,quite dark but it is an historic building so the charm is 👌🏾👌🏾, value and location is top notch. Very walkable, lots of historic land marks and attractions within walking distance and easy uber rides..service was ok.. i had minimal interaction with the staff except the night reception guy.. Jesus.. lol that was the fastest check in ever.. barely heard what he said .. i was clearly disturbing his night 🤣.. otherwise so far so good.. if i had another choice.. i probably would not pick this establishment over a pricey place. It served its purpose so 👍🏾

We recently stayed at the Magnolia Hotel and unfortunately cleanliness issues really impacted our experience. The first night, we found what appeared to be poop on the comforter, which completely grossed us out. Staff did come replace the sheets and blankets, but then while packing up to leave, we found someone else’s used sock in the room. That made it very clear housekeeping is not doing a thorough job cleaning between guests. The staff out front was extremely friendly and the location was great — within walking distance to places like the Sweet Tooth Museum and The Hampton Social. However, several amenities were not stocked, including conditioner in the shower, and even the snacks available for purchase were picked over and poorly stocked. To top it off, we were hit with unexpected resort fees at checkout, which made no sense given the hotel did not feel “resort-like” in any way and the amenities were honestly very lackluster. Overall, cleanliness is the most important thing to me when traveling, and because of these experiences, I would not stay here again.
