We stayed in this hotel this weekend and we had two rooms. One was a double and the other was a queen suite and they were on separate floors. It was so hot in both rooms on separate floors that it was hard to sleep and that’s a rarity for me as well as the rest of my family. Literally sweating to the point of the sweat dripping off my face while just sitting and doing nothing, It was extremely disappointing. I’m not sure who would be a repeat customer when it was so hot and humid in both rooms that the carpet was literally damp and you couldn’t sleep well. If we mentioned anything to anyone about being hot that worked there or that worked near there IE.the café, they all acted as if oh yeah, that’s not the first time we’ve heard this, wink wink, nod nod. I wouldn’t complain online about this except that I’m already complaining about the extremely, ridiculously hot rooms, you should invest in cleaning your windows. They are embarrassingly filthy.
Went to Dallas for a little weekend getaway for our 18th wedding anniversary. Chose the Magnolia to stay at because we’ve stayed here a couple of times previously but it’s been about 10 years since our last visit. I would like to caution all readers of reviews to please pay attention to the bad reviews because they really do ring true. Upon arrival we were placed on the 26th floor in a good size room. As soon as we walked in the temp in the room was noticeably very warm. We chalked it up being on a high floor in the early evening facing the west so we turned the AC down and went to get dinner thinking it would be more comfortable after we returned. Came back and it wasn’t, gave it a little while longer with no change and finally called the front desk. After several minutes of waiting on hold finally spoke to front desk and was told maintenance would be up shortly. They got up to the room banged around on a couple things and told us to give it 10-15 min and it would be better. Never happened! We decided to tough it out for the night as it was late and we wanted to see if it would be better since the sun was set but it stayed a balmy nearly 80 degrees in our room the whole night. Our TV didn’t even have working channels so we couldn’t even relax and watch tv waiting for our room to cool off. The next day we woke up to discover that our room did in fact not cool down any over the evening so we decided to check out and stay at another hotel because nothing about it was relaxing. You would get out of the shower and immediately start sweating because now the sun was back up and directly in our room reheating it all over again. I will say the staff was very understanding and did comp us as much as they could so I will give them credit where that is due! That was about the only redeeming thing about our stay here. We spoke to another patron on the elevator and inquired about his stay and he said “it sucked!” He switched rooms twice because of the lack of AC and it never got better for him either. We heard some rumors about them fixing to start some renovations which I hope is true because it truly is a beautiful hotel on the outside and great location for downtown with some amazing history. It was the first high rise in America to have AC, and they must still be operating with the original unit.
good hotel
🚫Reasons you shouldn’t stay here🚫 -Ac doesn’t work, we set it to 50 and still sweaty, felt like 80.😵 -Bed is literally a rock and when I called for a foam topper or anything soft they said no, we went downstairs and were able to get another blanket which helped.🪨🛌 -There was food wrappers under the mattress?? 🗑️ -Shower was wired wrong so we thought there was no hot water until we figured out you have to turn it twice to get it too hot setting. 🥶🚿 -shower was super rusty 💉 -the shampoo and soap bottles were obviously refilled with water and shook. 😷 -curtains were broken 🚫 -couch had grease stains 🤢 -floor had weird stains 🤢 -It costs way too much for what you get. It seemed cheap online so we were ready for it to be bad (not this bad sheesh) but after all the random fees (destination fee???) it was 190 dollars save your back and time and pay a little extra to avoid this place.
Great place to stay. Only drawback was facing the AT&T center and was a little loud. The atmosphere was great
Great location, convenient to restaurants and main attractions. Friendly staff, but unfortunately they didn't make up our room (we stayed there for two nights).
