Beechwood Lounge is a neighbourhood bar at 416 East Walnut Street in the East Village, the Des Moines district with the most LGBTQ+-friendly bars, shops and restaurants. It is a mainstream, gay-friendly bar, not a gay bar. Expect a casual, low-key place for drinks rather than a club. It holds a 4.5 rating from over 450 Google reviews. Several of the city's gay bars are within a few blocks, so it slots easily into a night out in the East Village. Hours and events are posted on its Facebook page; check there before you go.
