My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway and it was amazing. Eric and Tracy were fabulous hosts and so accommodating. The rooms were thoughtfully updated and everything felt very clean. The rooms felt cozy but upscale. The breakfast was incredible. Great location and easily walkable to lake and a cute coffee shop. Will definitely stay again!

Their thoughtful recommendations for things to do, see, and eat made our trip even more enjoyable. The Forest Inn itself is a beautifully and impeccably restored property with all the warmth and comfort of home. It's the kind of place you settle into and never want to leave. Breakfast each morning was a highlight of our stay. Every meal was delicious and expertly prepared. Eric's culinary skills are so impressive that he could easily have a side gig on the Food Network! The location couldn't be better—just a three-minute walk to Douglas Beach and only a five-minute drive to downtown Saugatuck, making it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in the Saugatuck/Douglas area, look no further than the Forest Inn. We would stay here again without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at the Forest Inn. Our room was very clean, the breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were hospitable. I would definitely recommend for a peaceful weekend in a beautiful beach town.

My best friend and I rented 2 rooms at the forest inn this past week and really enjoyed our stay. The house is very comfortable, the pool is an added bonus for the summer months, and the location couldn't be better. We were close enough to everything we wanted to do yet in a quiet neighborhood with a nice walking/bike path that ran along the road. A short walk up the road is the beach which is small but very nice and clean. The opposite way down the road is a walking trail through the forest. Breakfast each day was wonderful and they were happy to accommodate my food allergies. I'm looking forward to returning again for another visit.

i’m not normally one to write bad reviews, however after reading reading so many great reviews, we were extremely disappointed by our experience here! We were awoken at 6 AM to the sound of loud construction, going on right outside our bedroom window. We will not be returning here, there are so many more peaceful places to stay in the Saugatuk & Douglas area.

The Forest Inn is a gem. We are very particular travelers, and we have not one complaint. We have never stayed in such a clean and well-ordered Bed and Breakfast. The bed and its linens were high-quality and extremely comfortable. Every place our eyes fell there was something lovely to look at as Tracy has filled the Inn with beautifully-placed mirrors, furniture, works of art, and thoughtful touches designed to add comfort to the guests’ stay. The grounds are small yet lovingly landscaped. It is a four-minute walk to Douglas Beach and a five-minute car ride into town for lunch and dinner. We were in the heated pool several times a day. The lounge chairs were very comfortable, and the heated pool is always kept meticulously clean. Eric took great care to make sure that any dietary restrictions we had were honored. His breakfast creations were farm-fresh and beautifully plated. Tracy and Eric are excellent hosts. They are not intrusive or over chatty but always had the time to answer any questions we had or just have a bit of conversation. Eric always responded promptly to any text messages, phone calls, or email correspondence. We will definitely put this on our list of return travel locations.

Since the new owners purchased and restored the property, The Forest Inn has truly hit top tier. Both owners are so friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast on site makes waiting for a table at any worthy breakfast spot nearby unnecessary. The pool and its chaises, furniture and landscaping are all lovely. The location one half block to the waterfront lakeshore makes strolling for sunsets quick and easy on foot. Don't forget the weekend bonfires on property as well! The new bathrooms, bed linens, bath towels and other amenities are all high quality. If you were wondering whether The Forest Inn is worth the premium price, IT IS. Don't hesitate to book. Worth every penny. I will be back!

What a great place to stay! Eric and Tracy are awesome hosts. The location is super close to Lake Michigan as well, with a public access point just 3 minutes walking.

Delicious, beautifully done, and something we genuinely looked forward to every day. The whole place has that rare home away from home feel, but elevated. Location-wise, you couldn’t ask for better—just minutes from Douglas Beach and a quick hop to some incredible spots. Do yourself a favor and hit The Red Dock, Bowdie’s Chophouse, Southerners, Fenn Valley Winery, and Oval Beach. Bottom line: this place delivers. We’ll be back.

My daughters and I stayed for five days! Eric and Tracy were so very accommodating! Couldn't have asked for anything better! We were like family! The breakfast in the mornings were outstanding!

Owner Tracy's luxury design choices are evident throughout — the room is beautifully curated with an elevated aesthetic that feels more boutique hotel than bed & breakfast. The crown jewel? A private balcony that's ideal for morning coffee, evening wine, or simply soaking in the peaceful wooded surroundings. We spent more time out there than we expected! Speaking of mornings — breakfast was a true event. Eric prepared delicious, made-from-scratch meals each day that were as impressive as they were satisfying. His culinary talent and genuine hospitality made breakfast something we actually looked forward to the night before. The location could not be better. The beach is literally just down the street — an easy, leisurely stroll away. And when it comes to activities, Saugatuck absolutely delivers. Hiking the local trails was a highlight, but the retro boat rides stole the show — a one-of-a-kind, nostalgic experience that perfectly captures the charm of this special town. The Forest Inn manages to be both a peaceful retreat and the perfect launching pad for adventure. Thanks to Tracy and Eric for an unforgettable stay. We will absolutely be back!
