Red Lion Inn & Suites Olympia, Governor Hotel

We usually go to comfort inn but we were trying to save some money so we came here instead. And let me tell you we got what we paid for. The location is in downtown olympia which means it's kind of annoying to get into the parking lot. I'll give them this though between the parking lot and the parking garage there is plenty of parking (at least on a weekday). But the reason for the one star is not about the location, it's about the rooms. We got here and immediately had issues. 2 of the 4 lights didn't work, the door wouldn't close unless you really strong armed it, there were black stains on the bed, and it was FREEZING. We tried to turn on the heater and we left it running all day and night (we were there two nights and one day) and the room did not heat up. We tried warming up under the covers but the comforter is so thin it barely made a difference. Over the course of the 1st day we realized that the microwave and the mini fridge also didn't work so we couldn't reheat our food properly and we couldn't refrigerate our drinks. We didn't let any of that bother us though, we were just happy to get away. The last straw was the toilet. It flushed SO slowly and at first we thought it was one of those low flow toilets but it wouldn't flush if you put anything other than urine in it. I'm in the middle of a miscarriage so I'm bleeding a lot and when it wouldn't flush the bloody toilet paper we decided to ask for a different room thinking maybe there was something wrong with the toilet itself. They let us switch rooms but they did make it clear they had only the one room left so if we had a problem with the new room there was nothing they could do. We went to the new room and immediately turned on the heat in hopes it would work, it didn't. Again 2 of the 4 lights didn't work. But we were like whatever as long as the toilet works thats all that matters. It TECHNICALLY did. But it takes about 3 flushes to get anything down other than just urine. But they won't give us a refund so we are just dealing with it. At least the fridge and microwave work so there's that. Also, it's not as horrible as the rest of it but the breakfast isn't very good either. The honey packets are all hard so you can't use them and they have few options. Considering the size of the kitchen I don't understand why there weren't any hot options other than coffee. To be honest I can't wait to leave. They did introduce us to our new favorite resteraunt though. Ricardos, very good. And the water pressure and the temp of the water was good though. Those are the only reasons it's getting 2 stars. This place is FILTHY! I didn’t get a pic of the tub that was peeling back on the inside so badly you could see what’s underneath the fiberglass. When I turned the shower on the tub starting filling up. It wouldn’t drain! and the drain itself..gag! It was AWFUL! I took an army bath and refused to use the sink to brush my teeth! I used bottled water that I brought. Also, the floor was so gross. It hadn’t been vacuumed and I could tell because of the TOENAILS on the ground. I wore shoes the entire time. I didn’t even feel that my socks were enough of a barrier to that carpet! I sprayed my entire bed with Lysol then an additional disinfectant spray used in hospitals. I carry these things because I am a transplant patient. I wouldn’t have stayed had I had any other option. I used an entire pack of disinfectant wipes just to feel comfortable setting my things on the nightstand. The remote took 4 wipes by itself. Nasty! I wouldn’t even give this 1 star but without a star rating I can’t post. Save your money. Save your health! Go anywhere else.

What happened to the OLYMPIA GOVERNOR HOTEL of the 1970’s? This was "the" place to stay, back in those days. I’ve been a resident of Olympia for years and, naturally, thought that my choice to stay overnight at this historic hotel would be a wonderful experience. It was not. Paint peeling off the bathtub and clogging the drain, hair in the bathtub, hair on the bathroom floor, broken electrical outlet/receptacle plates plus the worst: NO HEAT! And in the middle of October!! Are you kidding me? This hotel is in a terrible state of disrepair. Thank goodness for the nice receptionist who went out of her way to find me a space heater and two blankets to help me be more comfortable. Also, the free breakfast was nothing to speak of – no one was maintaining it and the hot "coffee" (if you can call it that) ran out. Although the location was convenient, I will never stay there again.

WORST HOTEL EVER car was broken into cops told us they get a call about this location multiple times a week front desk says oh this never happens People were on roof access staring in window front desk said nothing I can do major security issues and unsafe

We checked in this Saturday, thinking that we would be paying a 50 dollar deposit as was noted on the booking website we used. We didn't find out that the deposit was actually 100 dollars until looking at our bank account to see that instead of 50 dollars, 100 dollars was taken out. After talking to the folks at the check in desk, it turns out this hotel has a different deposit rate if you are a local. This is not disclosed anywhere on the company website, nor anywhere else. Nor was the different deposit amount communicated to us at check in by staff. The room we got while clean at first glance has a bathroom where the shower is stained, the tub itself has paint peeling off the bottom, the drain top comes completely out, and the hot and cold water are reversed and the fan doesn't work. Add to that the mini fridge is quite loud when the compressor kicks in but the microwave works well. The AC itself is out, although now that temps are cooling, simply opening the windows easily combats any uncomfortably warm temps. My main gripe is the lack of communication about the different deposit rate.

Bed was very lumpy. I was told we would receive our room deposit back in 2 to 3 business days. It's been over two weeks and I haven't received it yet. The coffee cups and lids were mismatched sizes so I didnt endup taking the coffee I made just before checkout. The view was great and staff were pleasant but I wouldn't recommend this hotel based on how uncomfortable the bed was alone. Priceline called this a three star hotel. That is definitely not accurate.

This place was awesome! Back in 1975, however not to much has changed. Extremely dated, although the shower had great pressure and heat, everything in there was peeling away. The Air Conditioning was out so the room was hot (84°F) but they were handing out fans at the front desk. Not much of a breakfast, but not the worst either. Cereal, juice, toast, muffins, some fruit and coffee. The big positivity is the staff, delt with half a dozen people, and every one of them were extremely nice. If you just need a bed, want to be downtown, like fresh air, aren't a picky eater, want a warm shower (bring some shower shoes) and want to save a buck or two, this might just be your dream hotel. It certainly once was. Internet works well too.

This hotel was horrible and ugly inside,dated,no AC. I have never left a review before but felt I had to. My husband was trying to treat me because we were going to a comedy show nearby for our anniversary. I felt like I was poor when I walked into the room and back in the 80’s. I had read a review that at least the breakfast was good. Oh hell no nothing hot at all so we left as early as we could to go to breakfast and head home. The girl at the desk was very nice though and had a horrible job to deliver the new about the AC. Also, the tub was so tore up that we did not feel comfortable showering.

DO NOT STAY!!!! We had our truck broke into and there are no cameras outside there was no manager on duty and they didn’t even seem to care!!

I should have known to go someplace else when the front desk at check-in offered full refund to cancel since the A/C was broken. The room has slider doors to open in which the safety mechanisms were removed to allow full air to circulate in. The linens were dingy. I understand the hotel is preparing for a remodel, but there is still small things that can be done to make guests have a better experience.

Very pretty very beautiful very spacious. However, the air conditioning does not work anything. I couldn't sleep.
