The northern end of Baker Beach, below the cliffs nearest the Golden Gate Bridge, is San Francisco's best-known clothing-optional stretch and has drawn a strong gay male crowd since the 1970s. The southern part of the beach is a regular family beach; the clothed-to-nude change happens as you walk north.
Practical notes: the water is cold and the currents and surf are dangerous, so most people don't swim. Fog and wind are common even in summer, and warm afternoons in September and October are often the best days. Respect people's privacy, keep cameras away, and take your rubbish out with you.

It's perfect for a long stroll along the beach, relaxing and unwinding after a stressful day. PS: Bus line 28 runs from downtown to here ;-) There's a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge, perfect for taking photos, or just chatting with the anglers.
