This is a nice 3 star motel. It is not in the SF center. Has a good food truck. Not much around except some diners and fast food.

Wonderful! The preservation and restoration(?) of this place is of the highest caliber, and such a treasure for those of us with old souls. Absolutely a joy. I almost don't want to leave a review because I want El Rey to stay a secret....but it's too fantastic not to share. The cocktails in the bar were delicious too! Be sure to wander the whole property...there are delights everywhere. :)

Super affordable. Has all the little details. Great spot for girls trip or nicer spot to wash up and do a date night after camping. The host at the front desk was awesome and the cocktail lounge is so cute. Close to downtown and all the “things”. For business groups or workshops rent the greenhouse for conferences. Bags or bocce outside would be the perfect touch to the food trucks and bar patio.

Very nice place, we spent multiple days there, loved it, and will comeback if stopped by Santa Fe!

Renee is an excellent front desk employee. She was very kind, helpful and empathic to our needing to change rooms. So accommodating and a great representative in the hospitality industry!

This is a very special property and it's fair to say 'experience'. The rooms, structures and grounds are incredibly well kept and aesthetically considered. There are generous outdoor seating opportunities throughout (especially nice for those that do not already have their own porch) that are lush with green grass, shade and flowering shrubbery. There is charm wherever you look. It really appears that people have spent a lot of time thinking through what good hospitality is - and every bit as important - what good hospitality should best avoid. What this place has: Correctness in all the ways a hotel should. The staff, the grounds, the gardens, the rooms, the architecture, the aesthetic - basically the Vibe, beginning to end and everywhere in between. What this place does not have: Complications. Like I said, someone has spent a lot of time removing obstacles from the guest experience here. Therefore, everything just works in the easiest, most natural and intuitive way possible, which is all that any of us really want. Once you are checked in, your work is done. You don't need to track down a password to use their Wi-Fi, (and you shouldn't need to) because that's a largely pointless obstacle these days. It is open and available to anyone on property, as it should be. There is a 'just right' little property map you get at check-in that is accurate, readable and customized right in front of you so it is not difficult to find anything on property. Another obstacle removed. There are several restaurants and a real diner all within 90 seconds by foot, plus a cozy old patina'd little restaurant/bar that is part of the El Rey. Not to mention a Baskin-Robbins (open late) across the street. I have not the words to describe accurately the goodness of this offering. There are almost no signs littering the property alerting you to the rules and regulations regarding all that you should and should not be doing. The property is so intimate, cute and sensible that you already know how to behave and what to do, and so does everybody else so they don't need a bunch of signs bossing you around negging on your moment. It seems to be working. And it's refreshing. A few things of particular note: There is a nice glass bottle of purified water placed bedside along with two water glasses made of, get this...glass. Super nice lemongrass & honey shampoos and the like. Bright white 100% cotton towels in all the sizes. The bedding may well have been pure cotton too, but I was so tired I forgot to notice. And finally, no dorky, low-functioning, 2-cup coffee maker that ruins every morning it meets by speed-brewing a cup of tea out of what started as ground coffee bean. Good riddance! Instead, they have a cool/attractive little hot water carafe and some high-brow instant coffee offering. I don't generally approve of instant coffee, but again, someone thought about this and curated a solution that works, is best of brand, and far exceeds anything those dreadful little coffee makers can do. And it was easy. I could go on, but for all y'all who care about the little things and think the little things are actually a big thing - you all know my score now. Book with confidence. They don't make or manage them like this anymore. Garden Suite #47

Nice vibes place!

Enjoyed a peaceful nights rest after a fun filled day of music, vendors and vintage crafts at the High Road Festival . Diverse crowd with a very cool vibe. Checking out the next morning the grounds were returned to original condition and amazingly clean!

Very strong boutique hotel concept with excellent lifestyle branding. The atmosphere feels unique, relaxed, and highly shareable—exactly what modern travelers look for. Hotels that understand both hospitality and visual marketing usually stand out quickly, and this property is a perfect example of that.

Stayed here for a wedding. What a throw back to route 66 days. Beautiful grounds and every room unique!
