Circus of Books

Circus of Books at 8230 Santa Monica Boulevard carries a famous name: the original was a gay bookstore and porn shop run for decades by Karen and Barry Mason, the subject of the 2019 Netflix documentary. It closed in February 2019 and reopened under new ownership in January 2020 as a gay-owned adult boutique and gallery. Today it sells toys, fetish and BDSM gear, underwear and swimwear, books and zines, and it shows work by queer artists. It's on the east end of the strip, next to OR Bar and Out of the Closet.
