Circus of Books

So many memories! We used to visit it every single night, all through the mid 80s through the early 90s, and we saw so many movie stars who were not outed yet in Vaseline alley behind. The only name I’m gonna drop and only because he’s out is I met Boy George back there in 85 when I was just a Twink. Circus was a great bookstore and it wasn’t just a porn store. Only half of the store was adult. The other half was a very beautifully curated collection of very intelligent books. Right next-door used to be a bar called the Gold Coast, across Santa Monica was Mickey’s. This was our scene. Now that I’m 60 years old this brings tears to my eyes.

i went here last year for pride, love this store. So many items too choose from, this is one of my favorite adult stores ☺️

Called and the front desk person was very rude discrimated against me and made up a lie about me and said he’s calling the police the manager wasn’t helpful he actually hung up in my face don’t shop here as a black person‼️
