Barn1920s Hostel

My biggest qualms with this place was the air conditioning and the mattress. My room was so hot I had to sleep with my curtain open and i’m sure others felt this way too because they also had their curtains open. The mattress is so incredibly hard its probably akin to sleeping on the floor. I don’t think in all of my years of travel I have ever experienced such a hard mattress. As others have stated, the breakfast situation is not ideal. They provide ingredients, but there is always a queue to use the stove or use the microwave. Nowhere else in Laos has the accommodation not included breakfast service. The door is also very heavy and can’t really be closed quietly. Upsides are the free drink voucher and it’s very close to the night market/airport. The people running it seem very sweet.

This accommodation is very satisfying, and I would highly recommend it to foreign travelers.

I absolutely loved this hostel ! It is located in a beautiful house and there is a cute coffee shop. You have breakfast included but you have to cook it yourself, and you can also have one drink from the coffeeshop. You can rent scooters and bicycle. The room is nice, except that the matress is a bit hard. The location is good, very close to the night market. I wanted to stay longer but they were sadly fully booked.

A cute place in a lovely neighborhood! Everything looks exactly like they are in the photos. You get free coffee/drink every day. Breakfast is included but you have to prepare by yourself. Quite far from the night market but definitely walkable.

They did not know a thing about the bus tickets they sold and gave me the wrong info.... Please know what you sell or don't sell it. Also extreme hard matt to sleep on

Really liked my experience here! Clean rooms & bathrooms, friendly staff, good location! Loved that breakfast was included and that you have a space to cook for yourself if you’d like and also one included coffee-drink per night you’re there. Really nice perk! Don’t forget to check out the cool lounge upstairs! Great WiFi and nobody was ever there so it was the perfect work/chat space.

Way to small bed in length, im 190cm and i reached the end and had to crumble, back hurts Also the madress was alright it works but coulve been better

Great hostel for a stopover in Vientiane! We stayed twice: in a double room at the beginning of our trip and then in a female dorm at the end. In both cases, the bathrooms are shared. We preferred the dorm. Small but well laid out with a small curtain and a locker in each bunk. The complimentary drink of your choice is a nice touch. Breakfast is self-catering, but there are plenty of items available in the kitchen. A really cute and charming place!

I stayed here in mid-January 2026, on my way back from Luang Prabang, during my first visit to Vientiane in two years. It seems to be run by a young couple, and they are very conscientious. It's clean and reasonably priced. The dormitory beds were good, as were those at the hostel in Luang Prabang, but I was impressed by the functionality (power outlets, storage, hangers, etc.) and the spaciousness. They also run a cafe, and it seems the couple employs staff. Breakfast is served in the kitchen from around 7:00 to 10:00, and you prepare and eat it yourself. The dishes, cooking utensils, and ingredients provided show the owners' thoughtfulness, and I was touched that they went to such lengths! I hope guests will follow the rules and manners so that this system can continue for a long time.
