Miramar Hotel

Our stay at the Miramar Hotel began a bit unusually, with the two receptionists giving us a lukewarm welcome, more intent on asking for the PHP 2,000 deposit and clipping their nails behind the counter, in front of guests. The 1930s Art Deco-style building has its own personality (which is why we’re awarding it a second star in this review) and is just steps from the historic Luneta Hotel, currently closed and visible behind it. It’s a shame that the iconic elevator was out of order. The room is spacious but a bit dated, with some broken accessories (an old radio in the nightstand) and an unusual massage bed. The bathroom also shows signs of age, with the original shower handles and sulfur-smelling water. When we checked out (which we were reminded by phone ten minutes before was 11:00 AM), after having received our PHP 2,000 deposit back through the appropriate bureaucracy, it was raining outside and the road was flooded. Therefore, we couldn’t find a ride to the airport (we had an international flight), and despite our request for help finding a solution, unfortunately, the staff didn’t do anything to help us, but rather passively watched the situation unfold, impassive. If we managed to make it on time to catch our flight, it was certainly not due to their lack of support, but rather to the promptness of my partner, who knew her way around Manila.

I stayed in the front rooms and the noise from the traffic kept everyone awake. There were no window frames.

Ate lunch at the restaurant at the bottom floor, having fresh delicious pumpkin soup and a salad. Staff was professional and personable taking very well care of me from start to finish. Salamat for another delicious meal.

Nice location. Within walking distance from Manila Bay Beach and Old Spanish Heritage sites.

It's just like that

We stayed for 3 days. I like the location cause its near to US Embassy and training centers, walking distance only. The staff are very warm, courteous and they greet you with a smile. If I need to stay in Manila, I will definitely stay here again.

The mobile phone signal is bad when you're inside the hotel
