Friendly staff, very clean (always people running around collecting trash), very nice pool area especially if its sunny, drinks and food are reasonably priced. Mixed crowd, would definitely recommend.

I'm starting to get fed up with all the constant complainers. I've been a regular guest there for years and have never had a bad experience with the staff, cleanliness, or atmosphere. Of course, like everywhere else, there's always room for improvement, but that's true of everything, and people should just try to be a little more relaxed and easygoing. Why have we humans become so dissatisfied? Why have we become so disrespectful? The customer or guest is king as long as they behave like one, and some sauna guests seem to have forgotten that... I'm always satisfied, and whenever I'm in Cologne, I'm happy to come back. 😊😊😊😊😊

Very beautiful bath

Yesterday was my birthday Since one gets in free on one’s birthday, I decided to go to Babylon Sauna, in Köln. The place was very much as it’s described on the website. The cellar area is vast and divided up into a fun maze of little cruising areas. A maze/steam room lies beside a very large hot pool, and there are fun showers. The ground floor has a very nice lounge with a vaulted ceiling and bar, and outside there is a very large cold pool, around which lots of naked men lounged in the sun. The upstairs area contains the only public drinking water, in a little wall fountain. More crushing areas are set up around luxury cabins designed for those who want to stay longer, and possibly sleep. One of the nicest things about Babylon is that there is no thunderingly loud music blasting all the time. Most areas are quite silent. The man on the door/bar was named Chris, and he was extremely pleasant and friendly, and happy to chat about this and that when his duties permitted. The gentlemen were polite, very friendly, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I would definitely go back again.

Yesterday, my companion and I had a really great first visit to Babylon. As a transmasculine person who hasn't had surgery, I was very worried about whether I'd even be allowed in and whether I'd experience discrimination. The staff were incredibly friendly and treated me, as a apprehensive trans person, with respect and consideration! The other bathers were also very respectful, and no one commented on my body in any way. I felt very comfortable and not at all out of place, and I can only recommend that everyone take the plunge and go, even if their body doesn't conform to the ideal image. I definitely had a great time. The only downside: if you're vegan and don't want to eat only peanuts, you're out of luck. But I wasn't there for the food anyway.

I've now been to the Babylon Bathhouse in Cologne several times – alone, with friends (trans people and non-cis men*), and with my transmasculine partner (who hasn't had a mastectomy/gender surgery). My first visit was on Good Friday, and although there were a few unpleasant incidents, the overall experience was very pleasant and relaxed. The team always responded openly, respectfully, and supportively, including to my email inquiry about whether my partner would be welcome. The answer was clear: At the Babylon Bathhouse, everyone who identifies as men* in any way or feels comfortable in the setting is welcome. This was truly reflected in the atmosphere – during all my visits (usually lasting 6 to 12 hours), I felt safe and accepted. As a non-binary person who presents themselves in a strongly feminine aesthetic way, I was never openly discriminated against or treated in abusively. This really surprised me in a positive way. I definitely recommend Babylon to queer people who don't identify as cis male, trans people, or non-binary people – ideally with a friend to make the experience even more relaxed. Especially if it's your first time. Babylon is a place where you can let loose and have fun without fear of discrimination. Thanks to the team for that 🫶🏻✨ Suggestions for improvement: • The bar menu could include more vegan options – that would be a great step! Even if it's just fries. • It would be great if you could listen to the music playing on the big screen above the bar. There were some real bangers there 😭

This sauna has definitely seen better days! When I first visited this sauna over 30 years ago, it was called the Bathhouse at the Roman Tower, and back then it was a real highlight compared to the other saunas here in Cologne. In recent years, I've been going to Babylon more often, and even after a break of over eight months, I have to admit that I'm really not as happy anymore. For the past three weeks, there's only been one French toilet available because the other one is being renovated. A suggestion: Why don't you simply add another flushing station in the basement (the restroom in Area 51) and then renovate the ones upstairs? And instead of just replacing tiles, you could have easily converted the existing two flushing stations into four with a proper renovation. Last year, an area in the basement was retiled, and it was done so perfectly—without water pooling in certain spots. In the dry sauna, it would be nice to sand the wood again to show guests that the €28 entrance fee actually covers some maintenance. Here's a suggestion: Talk to a sauna in Berlin; despite heavy use, it always looks very well-maintained and tidy. The smells on the lower level are sometimes truly unbearable. It smells of practically every kind of human bodily fluid. That's not exactly erotic, and it doesn't turn me on at all. A possible solution: A room fragrance system for a few hundred euros a month could transform the entire sauna into a haven of well-being. Additionally, regular cleaning with water on peak days could help. Speaking of cleaning: During the regular trash checks, it would be good to also wipe down the loungers and remove the grime from under the slings. And the disinfectant in the French toilets should be checked and refilled. In my opinion, the renovation of the old darkroom wasn't worth it. This room is still being used, but not as much as it was two years ago. The bed that's there is much too high for activities involving the bed (one person on the bed and the other in front of it)! I also wish the BDSM bench would come back. The jar of condoms at the bar is nice, but it also makes me feel a bit self-conscious; I always feel like I'm being watched when I take two or three condoms out. The condom dispensers on the lower and upper floors are still there (they haven't been refilled in ages), so why aren't they being reactivated or simply removed? Regarding age discrimination: Last year, I overheard younger guests calling a guest over 60 or even over 70 a "gnome." Of course, as a sauna owner, you can't always do something about your guests. But I would really appreciate more sensitivity. A similar incident happened to me, where I was verbally attacked in front of the bar staff simply for looking at a guest for a few milliseconds too long… And unfortunately, nothing came of it! Now, let's talk about the service: Some Babylon employees are very, very friendly and attentive, but there are also those who are quite the opposite. For example, on Sunday, I encountered an employee I used to recognize as a regular. He didn't even greet me when I was a guest, even though we were talking to the same people or sitting at the same table. To continue doing that as a server is quite strange behavior. In conclusion, I have to say: The day when you go to Babylon and nothing is broken or makeshift is probably unheard of. Unfortunately, they only ever react, not proactively. Sure, things break unexpectedly or due to vandalism, but a makeshift wooden door on the steam and dry sauna for weeks on end is really not a good advertisement. This was my first time at Babylon Sauna, and I have to say I was thrilled. Everything was very clean. Since I have to watch my blood pressure, the steam room is my first choice. I think the labyrinth is fantastic. I've read some of the reviews here and I'm a little confused. For me, relaxation and rejuvenation are paramount, and if there's some playful fun involved, that's just the icing on the cake. If guests can't behave, the owner can't be held responsible, and no one can afford to clean up after every single guest. Guys, a (gay) sauna is not a brothel!!! If some people think they only want younger men, they should go to the appropriate events, but I suppose they won't be allowed in there because of their own age. :-D In conclusion: I felt comfortable and not discriminated against by the other guests. The welcome and farewell were very friendly and helpful. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. :-)

The Babylon bathhouse is perfect in terms of size and cleanliness. The staff are always friendly, courteous, and always have a witty remark ready. The drinks are a bit pricey, but I think that's perfectly normal for a big city. I'll definitely be back. ❤️💙💚🩷💛
