Januarius

The best dish I had in all of Naples. No exaggeration. The paccheri with Genovese ragu is absolutely insane. I came alone and it ended up being one of the best dates with myself of the entire trip. I found myself humming, dancing a little, and savoring every bite. I have a theory: when food truly moves you, your body naturally moves. This place did exactly that.

A charming and welcoming restaurant, opposite the Naples Cathedral, with very attentive and professional service. The food is excellent, high quality, and they have a great selection of wines. The pasta marinara was delicious, and the tiramisu was the perfect ending—one of the best I tasted in Italy.

The food was amazing, It was simple, but impressive like it should be with the Italian quality products. We enjoyed everything, the pasta with mussels , was unforgettable, the caprese salad had unique mozzarella and they have pretty nice collection of wines! Definitely should visit!

Januarius was one of those places in Naples where everything feels genuinely rooted in the city. The pasta dishes are deeply traditional, unpretentious and full of flavour — generous, comforting and satisfying, without trying to be anything other than good Neapolitan cooking. What made the experience particularly special was the warmth and friendliness. There is a real human dimension to the place: welcoming, relaxed and sincere, with the feeling that hospitality matters as much as what comes out of the kitchen. And then there is the setting: literally opposite the Duomo, right in the middle of one of Naples’ most bustling and hectic areas, yet somehow Januarius feels like stepping through to the other side of the mirror. The city continues at full speed just outside, while inside there is warmth, conversation, tradition and a different rhythm. A wonderfully human Neapolitan experience — savoury, generous and authentic, with food and hospitality that feel deeply connected to the city around it.
