Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Waalwijk

What can I tell you, read the reviews, they say it all: bad, musty rooms, noisy, and no coffee maker in the room—and that for a 4-star hotel, strange. And what always surprises me is that the same response always appears under the comments ("we will take this into our discussion, this is not what we want") so do something about it!!! Make sure you actually earn those 4 stars. By the way, the staff is top-notch; nothing but praise there, friendly and helpful, excellent.

What a hellish mess

Very dissatisfied. First of all, they are scammers; they did not adhere to very clear (and in writing) agreements regarding the cancellation of rooms during a group booking. They promised on the phone that this could be done for free, but then forced us to pay anyway. Do not do business with them! Additionally, incredibly shabby rooms for a much too high price and rude/unfriendly staff at the reception. Not hospitable and unwilling to cooperate in anything. We also heard mice/rats running around in our room. The price-quality ratio is completely out of proportion. I strongly advise everyone against staying here; choose another hotel.

Just one of the worst trips I’ve been to. I don’t understand how this place is rated good when the standard or basic needs aren’t even met.

I can understand some of the negative reviews about this hotel, but during my stay, I did not experience any of the issues mentioned. The facilities were excellent, and my room was very spacious with a fantastic view from the windows. While the price was a bit on the expensive side, I felt it was worth it for the overall experience. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. The breakfast was also excellent, offering a wide variety of options to choose from. Overall, I had a great experience and would happily return in the future. Thanks for your time. Monty

Don't book this place under any circumstances: Dirty, run-down, and zero service! I have to drastically revise my previous rating downwards. This hotel is not only unacceptable, but a genuine safety hazard! Life-threatening bed design: The loose mattress extends completely beyond the much too narrow bed frame (excess width). If you sit on the edge, the mattress immediately tips over, and you fall off. That's exactly what happened! This is extremely dangerous, as there's a sharp-edged radiator right next to the bed. You could seriously injure yourself! Fire alarm & sleep deprivation: At 2:00 a.m., there was a fire alarm that completely woke us all up. As if that weren't enough, I was woken up again at 6:00 a.m. because the extremely thin walls allowed the vibration alarm of a cell phone from the next room to be heard without interruption. Rotting inventory: The carpet is covered in disgusting stains, the room reeks, and the armrest on the armchair was completely loose and wobbly. I was actually afraid to even sit in it. The walls are completely dilapidated. Zero service: At reception, complaints are met with arrogant dismissal. "No other rooms available, send an email." Absolutely outrageous! This hotel desperately needs a complete overhaul or to be shut down. Sleepless, disgusted, and almost injured – never again! Part 1 won't be deleted either: I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The condition of the room is an absolute disgrace: Hygiene: The carpet is covered in disgusting stains, the entire room smells unpleasant, and you simply feel uncomfortable. Condition: The walls are completely dilapidated and run-down. Nothing has been invested here for years. The absolute worst part, however, is the "service": If you complain at reception about these unacceptable conditions, you're simply brushed off arrogantly. They just say there are no other rooms available. Instead of a straightforward solution on the spot, you're told to send a complaint email. Mistakes happen, but the combination of filth and this blatant disregard for guests is unacceptable. Never again!

It was boiling hot in the rooms while it was about 18 degrees outside; this was truly nauseating. There was a fan in the room, but it didn't bring the temperature down. The rooms were old and dingy. The carpet in the room and in the hallway was very filthy and old; it really needs replacing. The hotel itself is old and looks more like a retirement home than a 4-star hotel. No more Fletchers for us. The only advantage is that it is located 10 minutes from the Efteling and within walking distance of the shops in Waalwijk.

Nothing to complain about. But the hotel is a bit dated!

Disastrous. There was no air conditioning. The bathroom reeked of urine. The windows were extremely thin, the carpet was disgusting, and the bathroom in general was revolting. No amenities whatsoever. This hotel room cost €190.03 per night—a catastrophe. The shower head was clogged with limescale, and I didn't receive fresh towels. The lighting was poor. The only good thing was that parking was free.
