Gromada Hotel Poznań

The food in the hotel restaurant was excellent, and there was good water from the dispensers in the hallway. The lack of refrigerators in the rooms was a bit surprising...

It's ok.

There's a constant burning smell in the first-floor hallway. The door in my room was being repaired with HDF board screwed on both sides. Someone probably made a dragon's entrance. The hallway lights didn't work at night. It was hard to find the key by blindfolding. There's also a strange smell in the room. The mattress on the bed is so soft that you lie bent over as if in a hammock. People with back problems will suffer. The bathroom is so small that when you sit on the toilet, the sink is almost on your knees. The toilet paper holder digs into one leg. You have to keep the other leg bent because the shower tray gets in the way. Breakfast has a wide selection, but it's a shame everything is stale. The cold cuts taste stale, and the scrambled eggs seem to be mixed with the ones from the day before. You can smell old bits. The worst part was the vegetable salad. It was spoiled. In Germany, this standard would be okay for Germans, but for Poland, it's also poor.

For the price it's okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the toilet smells terribly, we had to keep the window open all night because it smells terribly of sewage and mold.

Unfortunately, I have nothing nice to say about the hotel. When I traveled to Poznań, I made a reservation through Booking.com and received a confirmation and reservation number in the app and by email. Upon arrival, at 7 p.m., the gentleman at the front desk informed me of a technical error at the hotel and that if I wanted my reservation, I would have to pay a much higher price for the room. Total indifference and no proposed solution to the surprising, unpleasant situation I found myself in, with the gentleman at the front desk rolling his eyes. I'm surprised that such a situation could occur. Reservation confirmations are not a guarantee that you will receive a room at this hotel at the price you selected.

The rooms are clean, equipped with a bathroom, bed, TV, and fan. They are clean and tidy, and serviced daily upon request. The hotel strives for European standards, although there are some minor shortcomings. There is a water dispenser on each floor (sparkling, slightly sparkling, and still) included in the price. What bothered me most was the additional fee for customer parking (30 PLN/day). I assumed such amenities should be included in the price of the stay – that's how they take care of their customers, but here it felt like an attempt to extort money from tourists. There are a large number of rooms and a 24-hour reception, which may indicate frequent availability at any time of day or night. The neighborhood is rather unsettling, considering that in the evenings you can hear guys on the benches nearby. The Old Town is less than a 30-minute tram ride away.

A good hotel for an overnight stay. Small but clean rooms with TV and coffee facilities. Hairdryer and towels are provided. Guests can dine at the hotel restaurant.
