JJ Bar stands out on Carrer de la Mare de Déu, the stretch of Sa Penya street below Dalt Vila that's home to Ibiza Town's gay scene. It's a pub-style spot where conversation is possible, thanks to a more subdued atmosphere than you'd find in a club. The small balcony at the back offers harbour views. There's also a darkroom - just remember to ask before you touch, and leave everything except your cash and phone at home. Hours are 22:00-04:00 every night, but it's worth checking if you're visiting off-season: some listings suggest it's only open on weekends from October to April. The staff are multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and French. You can grab a drink here for €8, and the place is open until 4am from Thursday to Saturday. It's not the flashiest place, but the food's better than the décor suggests. On a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you'll find it's open till 4am.

If you want to meet older men, this is a top location, especially on Fridays, when it is packed from 7 pm onwards. The first drink is at least €6, and after that, €4 for every standard drink. But for that price, you discover the most handsome older men and there is plenty of room to play. The only downside is perhaps that most men come there as a couple. There is usually football on multiple screens, except on Fridays, when there is a drag show at 9 pm.
