Today I went to La Matina for the first time. I'm old school; I lived through the 80s at Barraca, Chocolate, Espiral, and Spook, and there's nothing new that can surprise me. La Matina is good, the music is good, the atmosphere is motivating, but I don't understand why they allow shirtless people in the club or smoking! Those are two things I dislike. Even so, I think I'll go back because overall I liked it!
I don't know how you dare call that an after-party. It's a huge hassle to get in; they spend 20 minutes just taking down a phone number and email address. Once you're inside, the music, the lights, and the atmosphere are nothing like the cheapest parties you'll ever have in your hometown. It's shameful. Don't even bother going.
A gastronomic experience… I mean, a night out, that's hard to forget. One of those after-parties where you go in thinking "just one more drink" and leave questioning every decision you've ever made…
If you're from Madrid, don't even think about setting foot in this place, because these people don't know what an after-party is. When you walk in, you have to wait ages because they have to search you. You find yourself face to face with Auntie Loli, who has one computer for 57 people, unbearably hot, and constantly telling you to be quiet because if you talk, the person using the keyboard can't hear or concentrate. They list the rules: 1. You can't take out your phone, NOT EVEN TO CHECK THE TIME (their exact words). 2. No drugs or selling drugs (as if we were the queens of the south). You walk into the chaos expecting the best party of your life and find Uncle Pepe DJing: "Oh, how good, I got over you! Since you left, I'm better, I'm happier... and now I'm going out..." To get over the hangover, you go to the bathroom with your friends, and if there are more than two of you, they won't let all of you in. There's a bouncer with a fan that sounds like Hurricane Melissa, preventing you from getting a single drop of water because it's his... and on top of all this, the manager, very proud of her position, acting like she has the job of a lifetime, is practically swaying the Prosegur security guards in the bathrooms like a good old palm tree. The bouncer is a cross between Coto Matamoros and Mike Tyson, and his girlfriend, a real piece of work with a criminal record, acts like she owns the place, treating everyone with a manner that's completely out of character for an after-party. Like I said, we're from Madrid and we're the best, we don't have a beach so we don't overdo it!
If you're from Madrid, skip the after-party. We don't have a beach because that would be too much.
Great music and atmosphere
