Bar Broadway

Absolutely unacceptable experience organising a hen party at Bar Broadway. I started contacting them in November to book for February and had to repeatedly chase just to get basic confirmation. Communication was slow and disorganised. Emails were slow, and Instagram was the only way I could get a response from them. On 3rd January, my partner and I travelled from London and went into the venue in person to sort the booking, only to be told to message them on Facebook instead. The message wouldn’t deliver and we were told there was nothing else they could do — despite us standing there. The worst part? Less than 24 hours before the hen do, I was told the upstairs karaoke space was no longer available due to a last-minute private hire. Private hire was NEVER discussed with me as an option during the months of organising, yet clearly it was always possible. Had this been made clear, I would have secured it properly. Instead, a key part of the bride’s planned evening was pulled with barely any notice, leaving us with no real choice the day before. For a venue that markets itself around events, this level of organisation and communication is shocking. I would not trust them with an important group booking again.

Unsettling environment, made to feel uncomfortable by the doorman, as we were finding the entrance we were shouted at by a man drinking a can of beer and sat on some steps about 10 metres away, my friend and I have then walked into the bar and walked to the other side of the venue out of panic. The man drinking the beer (red strip) has followed us in and spoken to the bartender - my friend went to clear the air as she realised it was the doorman, tried to explain that as women, being shouted at by a man that we cannot recognise is terrifying, however the bartender told us we were too drunk and had to leave. We were not drunk by any means and my friend that was visiting really wanted to try out this bar unfortunately all we were greeted by was an unsafe environment to then become freaked out by being shouted at by a drunk doorman who had no viable sign of being said “doorman” we were told leave so we did, as we didn’t want to be kept in unsafe environment. Please fix this issue as being a younger female the doormen should be looking for safety not causing harm.

Arrived to our 5pm booking, which was paid in full, to be told our booking had been moved to 2pm. No phone call to ask! No consideration if we could make the earlier time. Then to be told we had to contact the booking company to return our money and it was nothing to do with them!! Awful. Seeing in other reviews that this has happened before you think they’d be conscientious to ensure it didn’t happen again!!

Excellent karaoke, insanely good atmosphere, friendly staff and good vibes. Highly recommend

How, after many complaints, a venue still runs off 3rd party bookings that do not exist is baffling!!! We booked a drag brunch for 5 of us, to our surprise upon arrival the venue was not even open. After waiting for it to open they told us our booking and event didn’t exist. It is your responsibility as a business to oversee what 3rd party booking sites are offering to customers, it’s giving lazy, unreliable and scammers!!! They don’t issue refunds, we have to do it from the 3rd parties website, which I understand, but why keep up tickets for non existent events and procure fees for the business from using these 3rd party websites. Do not book an event here, we left as a group of 5 ladies hoping to celebrate our two friends birthday with nothing booked to do in Brighton on a Saturday night.

Great entertainment, great venue awesome staff

Very disappointed booking the Drag bingo at revolutions Eventbrite took us to Bar Broadways page. On arrival at revolutions they were very accommodating even though they couldn't find our booking, they seated us while they contacted Eventbrite to find out what was going on, and when they eventually got back to them we were told wrong location. After a mad dash to the correct venue we were told they had filled our spaces as we took too long and to get in touch about a refund. Though disappointed at being shunned at what we had paid for and told they had sold on our tickets, especially as revolutions was so kind, helpful and accommodating, as we were told we'd be refunded it wouldn't be the end of the world. We contacted the organisers and they said no... Don't put yourself through the agro, there are friendlier places out there.

The most unwelcoming place in Brighton
