Boate La Cueva
Visitors praise Boate La Cueva for its friendly community vibe, good music, and historical importance to the LGBT community, with many enjoying the older, down-to-earth crowd. However, some reviewers found the service to be arrogant and even racist, and the bar can be small and crowded on weekends.

I'm gay and I like women
A place of resistance and great importance to the history of the LGBT community. Always cold beer and always friendly service. Good music and a crowd of people over 40.
Very friendly community vibe in this little neighborhood bar (one of the oldest gay bars in Rio, apparently). My partner and I enjoyed people watching and mingling with a diverse and down-to-earth crowd. It skews older & friendlier than your average ‘polished’ nightclub. The headcount picked up steeply around 12am. We left around 2.
The service was arrogant, not to say racist!
Bear Bar 🐻 is divided; it's like a regular, somewhat small bar, and on one side is an underground-style dive bar (cave) with good music and a limited drink menu (only certain cocktails). Since I went alone, it took me a while to adjust, but after that it was fun 🔥🔥🔥
The first place in Rio where a caipirinha didn't taste like a caipirinha! Good music and a pleasant atmosphere.
