Sandals Grande Antigua

Brilliant stay, spoilt rotten. So much to do, and choice of good food.

This was our first time in Antigua, and we chose Sandals based on the ratings and reviews. Unfortunately, the service has been extremely disappointing. We’ve dealt with several servers and staff members who were rude, dismissive, and seemed bothered by even simple questions. It honestly feels like because most employees don’t work for tips, there’s very little motivation to go above and beyond or even provide the friendly accommodating service you’d expect from a resort at this price point. Antigua is beautiful, but based on our experience with the staff and service, I would not recommend Sandals Antigua and definitely would not return. I recommended the place to family members after my first day of being here thinking it was great but I’m definitely going to have them cancel it now. They are supposed to be coming in 2 weeks but I wouldn’t want them going through what we dealt with where you feel like you’re in an all around self-serve resort with rude staff members that have lack of training.

A truly relaxing place, surrounded by nature, with an enviable beach and stunning sea. The diving service is very attentive and professional, and the dives were beautiful. The sun loungers on the beach could be improved, and some of the general furnishings would benefit from a modern update. The gym, however, is absolutely outstanding — truly top-notch!

I love the resort, the food the beach the service. They made us feel welcome and treated us very very good. We would come back for sure The only negative is the vendors at the beach. I understand it’s a public beach but it definitely takes away from the experience. We rented jets skies and after we rode them the guy demanded for us to go get him burgers from the restaurant and got upset once we declined.

Just finished my stay, the resort location is awesome and the beach is beautiful. Although outdated, I really like the classic Caribbean decor and style. Overall, the service and staff were terrific. The photographers really stood out to us as they were always so pleasant and friendly. The food was great yet some of the restaurants that required a reservation were difficult to get into even though the resort wasnt near full capacity. Wish the restaurants were more like Excellence resorts that you just show up to, no reservations required. Resort def could use some updating like a more iconic main bar and more healthier food and snack options. The wild cats are actually a great detail and we loved Sampson and Delilah. The entertainment was definitely lackluster, definitely needs improvement. All in all, if you’re a beach person, this resort is the place for you.

We spent our 10 year anniversary at Sandals Grande Antigua in June 2026, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we landed, about 30 minutes from the airport, we knew this was going to be an amazing week. The resort had that perfect mix of luxury and laid back island vibes that made it easy to just melt into vacation mode. **Location & Convenience** The short airport transfer (about 30 mins) meant less time in the car and more time on the beach. Once you're on property there's really no reason to leave. Everything you need is right there. **Service** The staff set the tone for the entire trip. Every interaction felt genuine, friendly, and professional, never scripted or forced. It's the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of without being overbearing. **Food & Drinks** Every meal delivered. We didn't have a single disappointing dish the entire stay. Only three restaurants require reservations and booking was simple, either through the app or in person. Random small detail, but the complimentary oatmeal raisin cookies became a daily highlight for us. **Room** We booked the Mediterranean Club Level suite and it exceeded expectations. Spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, it felt more like a private retreat than a hotel room. **Amenities & Entertainment** The pool is massive with a swim up bar right in the center, perfect for lounging with a drink in hand. The afternoon pool games kept things lively without feeling forced, and the evenings brought a nice mix of live music, shows, and games. Nothing over the top, just simple, fun entertainment that added to the atmosphere. The beach is what really stole the show though. Long stretches of white sand and water so clear it looked unreal. **Spa Experience ** We treated ourselves to a couples massage at the spa and it was easily one of the best parts of the trip. Professional therapists, calming ambiance, the whole experience felt like a proper reset. **Final Thoughts** If you're looking for a resort that combines top tier service, incredible food, and a genuinely beautiful beach, Sandals Grande Antigua is worth it.

Do NOT buy goods from Michelle on the beach! She cheated us out of money and threatened to call the police. I realize this isn’t a Sandals issue because the beaches are public, but she has a permanent stall at the property and they should be aware of this.

2nd Sandals resort and I must say "Top Tier". From arrival transport, food,resort amenities and stay!

Great service. Lush green premises. Fantastic decore. Food for me was a little on the acquired taste, but I am picky. Might suit you well.
