Graycliff Hotel

We were misled by the style, charm, and great photos… The staff are mostly very polite and helpful. The pool area is incredibly beautiful! However, tourists on Graycliff tours constantly walk through, taking photos, while you actually want to relax in your bikini… There are much better ways to feel comfortable… Breakfast was a bad joke: three sips of juice, burnt, reheated croissants, and toast… A small jar of jam and a tiny piece of butter… On the second day, I opted for a "healthy breakfast" for €40, which consisted of two strawberries, some muesli mix, and a cup of plain yogurt… so we lost all desire to try the dinner there. The rooms are rusted through and dilapidated… The water pressure in the shower was a joke… The bed, however, was very comfortable!! After three nights, we were glad to move on… but with a different taxi driver than the one the hotel called for us… This one was even too stoned to speak 🙈

The experience here at the Graycliff is from another time and place. The ambience is one of a kind. When we opened our room door the first time, I could feel the presence of English Royalty or better yet, the Beatles. A totally unique experience! 7

I’m giving this cliffside hotel and restaurant a strong 4 out of 5. It’s a striking, well-positioned property with a lot going for it, but a handful of details kept it from reaching a true five-star standard. Starting with the rooms—spacious, comfortable, and styled with a classic Victorian feel that fits the character of the place. The layout works well, and overall it’s a pleasant space to spend time. That said, there are signs of wear that shouldn’t be present at this level. A clear example: when I went to plug in the iron to press a shirt from a recent fishing trip, the entire wall outlet assembly—the two plug sockets themselves—was physically coming out of the wall. Not just loose, but actually pulling free. That’s the kind of maintenance issue that shouldn’t exist in a property positioning itself at a five-star level. The Nespresso machine also underperformed and didn’t function efficiently, which added to that sense that details are being missed. Service overall was good, but inconsistent in key moments. Staff were polite and professional throughout our stay. When the bellmen were present, they were attentive and helpful. However, when we were bringing our luggage down from the second floor and out to the street for departure, they were simply not there. It’s not a major failure, but at this level, timing and awareness matter. The restaurant experience had both strong points and some frustrations. The servers were excellent—attentive, responsive, and well-staffed. There was always someone available, and table service was handled well. The weak link was the maître d’, who lacked warmth and personality. In a five-star dining environment, especially at these prices, the host sets the tone. Here, that element felt flat. One issue that stood out: when we requested the bill, the waiter suggested adding additional gratuity for “the boys,” despite an 18% gratuity plus VAT already being included. In today’s environment around tipping, that felt excessive. Even so, we still added an additional $25 USD on top of what ended up being roughly a $450 dinner for two with drinks. On the positive side, the cigar lounge was a highlight. Sitting down with a hand-rolled cigar—especially one crafted by someone we had seen previously at a cigar factory—was a great touch. At $26 including VAT and gratuity, it felt like a fair value and a memorable part of the experience. The property itself is beautiful. The grounds are immaculate, and the pools looked excellent, though we didn’t have time to enjoy them due to an early departure. Breakfast the next morning was solid. The included continental option was fine, and the added cooked items were good—eggs and avocado toast were well prepared, though $20 for a croissant and bacon felt steep. One final consideration is noise. We stayed on a Friday night, and there was noticeable street noise—sirens, loud vehicles, and heavy bass from music—until close to midnight. It eventually died down, but if you’re looking for a quiet, tranquil experience, weekends may not deliver that here. Overall, this is a very good property with a lot of upside—great setting, strong service in parts, and unique amenities. But at this level, it’s about consistency and execution. Clean up the smaller issues, and this easily becomes a five-star experience.

Buyer beware! - We spent a night here in March and left as soon as we could the next morning. Do a little fact checking on 5 stars, largest wine selection, best restaurant in Nassau etc. Etc. Ask to see your room before you pay. Check your bill after dinner. if you left your pill on the nightstand we found it.

I visited the hotel and stayed in Lord Dunmore's suite. The stay was one to remember as it brought the feel of Old Nassau back to life. The location is hidden yet in the center of the action. Just a two minute walk and you are at the beach and in even less time you are downtown in the heart of the island. The options for things to do seems endless and the food at the restaurant made the trip worth it.

Very dated rooms. And I hate it when people lie to you. $811 for a room with breakfast included. And then they charge you $70 dollars extra for breakfast. Coffee, croissant and eggs Benedict. Yeah that sounds like included Scam artists. Go spend your money somewhere else

A must-do in Nassau, whether you're staying at a hotel or a restaurant, is the Graycliff Hotel. This historic venue, frequented by countless celebrities, represents the original Nassau perhaps better than most of the capital and island. The facilities, furnishings, design, staff, rooms, and food are second to none.

Popped in for a Sunday lunchtime drink. We're made very welcome and the wine was of a very high quality and properly chilled. So pleased to find this oasis amongst the clatter of modern accommodation

We walked up from cruise ship a year ago. Bought some stuff in their nice gift shop. Then proceeded to main entrance. Was going to check out lobby and bar. They refused our entrance. We are world travelers and would recommend the gift shop but not the hotel. They are rude people. We will be in port again February 10. We can scratch them off of our list. We have never been treated so bad.
