Edmonton looks better from a distance than up close, unfortunately. While the skyline surrounded by trees and the river is impressive, the reality on the streets is disheartening. The sheer number of homeless individuals and drug users makes walking around feel unsafe. This square, despite its decent appearance, significant buildings, and crowds of people, can't quite counterbalance the negative impression left by the surrounding streets. It seems like almost anywhere outside of Downtown feels better, and while this square is a small exception, it’s not enough to make a big difference.
We celebrated the new year of 2023 here and this plaza is big and wide open. In summer has water fountain around and in winter it changes to skate ring. Has some monuments of key people for Alberta. Worth a visit if you are at Edmonton downtown. Close to the city centre mall, museums, and public transit.
Especially during the holiday season it offers light installations and a figure skating area. Great for kids.
Right by the sir Winston Churchill square and the Churchill station. Very modern design and good place to relax. There is a statue to commemorate the soldiers who participate in the wars.
Great art installation in summer but insane people around
