it's a hostel, so it's busy and not always quiet at night, obviously. But everything was there, the staff was friendly and the room and kitchens are cleaned regularly. (you have to clean after yourself!) The location is fantastic, so it's a good deal for this price! :)

Good experience overall! Bedrooms are old fashioned and not very spacious but it’s fine. The immediate surrounding of the hostel is somewhat creepy but walk a few streets away and you’ll discover the beauty of Ottawa. Definitely a good deal!

A basic backpackers, extremely well cleaned everyday. Quiet, very central, a short walk to the market and city centre, including buses and train. Staff friendly and very efficient. The single room building had a very clean shared bathroom which I rarely had to share. The kitchen had an oven, microwave, several types of coffee makers, a kettle, cutlery, crockery, and plenty of room. The lounge downstairs was roomy and seldom used. The laundry machines need coins. Plenty of food nearby and an excellent supermarket at the Rideau Centre. Free fast wifi. Would recommend as great value for money, and while not luxurious, had a comfotable bed, was warm, and has many more amenties than a hotel. One of the nicest things to do was sit on the front porch in the sun in the morning and chill with a homemade drip or French press coffee and enjoy the trees and the city.

Our single room with a double bed was very clean and tidy, as were the shared showers, toilets, and kitchen. Towels, bath mats, etc., were changed daily. The reception staff were also always very helpful. I highly recommend this hostel!

I stayed at Ottawa Backpackers Inn with a group of friends, and while the location is definitely a big plus, the overall experience was very disappointing. The hostel is in an amazing spot (just a 2–3 minute walk to ByWard Market) which makes it super convenient for food, sightseeing, and getting around. The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which we appreciated. However, the condition of the hostel itself was really poor. The place doesn’t seem to be maintained properly at all. The floors are extremely squeaky (it drives you crazy after a certain point), the beds make noise with every movement, and the sides of the beds were visibly dirty. After just one night, all of us woke up with terrible back pain, which has never happened to us in other hostels. Another issue was the ventilation. The fans weren’t working properly, and one was positioned directly above my head. Even if it had been working, it felt unsafe...I was genuinely worried about hitting my head on it if I woke up during the night. There are only about 3 bathrooms shared between what seems like 40 people (around 6–7 rooms), which sounds like a lot—but to be fair, the bathrooms were the only part that seemed well-maintained and clean. We usually enjoy staying in budget hostels and don’t expect luxury, but this experience was far below expectations. Unfortunately, despite the great location and kind staff, I wouldn’t stay here again

Definitely a no for me. And I’m not a picky person when it comes to hostels, but this just didn’t feel clean, imo. The beds were very noisy, the mattress was thin, and the area around the hostel felt dark and unsafe at night, with a lot of unsettling activity nearby. The entrance area was also very dirty, and being asked to remove my shoes and walk in socks on that carpet was not it. I’ve paid the same price for much better room conditions elsewhere in the same city, even nearby.

Had a great (short) time there ! Very well located, close to bars, restaurants and places to visit! A very nice hostel and great staff :) ⭐️

Great for the price! If you're a princess you won't like it, but having stayed in loads of hostels, it's very well located and perfectly adequate!
