amazing experience sitting at the bar with these two!
I took my mom here for her birthday, and unfortunately, what should have been a special experience started with a very disappointing interaction at the host stand. My mom had been looking forward to this visit for days. She is very detail-oriented, so she called ahead to confirm our reservation and specifically confirmed that it was for a party of three. We arrived at 5:50 p.m. for our 6:00 p.m. reservation, only to be told that the reservation was listed for two people. What was even more concerning was that several other parties with 6:00 p.m. reservations were seated before us, despite the fact that we had arrived first. We ultimately did not get seated until approximately 6:25 p.m. We understand that delays can happen, but the way the situation was handled by the host made us feel unwelcome and as though we were being treated differently. I want to be very honest about how this interaction made us feel. I could not help but question whether our treatment had anything to do with our ethnicity. I am not making an accusation without knowing the host's intentions, but the experience and the difference in how we appeared to be treated compared with other guests left us uncomfortable and concerned. No guest should have to wonder whether they are being treated differently because of their ethnicity. Thankfully, our server, Shelly, was phenomenal. She provided excellent service and helped turn the experience around once we were seated. We also chose not to raise our concerns with management until after our meal because we did not want there to be any perception that we were complaining in hopes of having our bill comped. We simply wanted to share our experience honestly and give management an opportunity to address it. I sincerely hope this is taken as a learning and coaching opportunity. The host is the first point of contact for guests, and that role is incredibly important. Guests should feel welcomed, respected, and treated fairly from the moment they walk through the door. I hope management will have a meaningful conversation with the host(Hun***) about professionalism, hospitality, and the importance of recognizing how our actions and body language can make guests feel—particularly when those guests may already be questioning whether they are being treated differently because of their ethnicity. My intention in sharing this is not to attack anyone. It is to bring attention to an experience that should not happen and hopefully encourage better treatment for every guest moving forward.
If you only have one night in Charlotte this is the place to go! From the ambience to the food to the staff this place is the full package. Richard and Meg at the bar, with Taylor in a killer bowler hat, absolutely killed it, and right from the beginning made me feel like I was walking into my local bar. Even offering me a seat at the bar to talk with them, instead of my table, since I was coming in alone. After just a few questions, Richard made me a drink he promised I would enjoy, and enjoy I did. The New York Gin Sour, while seems like a wild choice due to it containing a raw egg, tasted like the perfect creamy limeade, topped with red wine, it went perfectly with my bison steak. While the plate seemed a little bare, you would not have noticed since the steak was so well seasoned with a perfect sear/ cook. Even the salad was good, who says that?! Tossed with the best vinaigrette, next time I’ll ask for extra on the side. I rounded off the meal with a perfectly sweet and tangy Lemon Drop mocktail. Overall it was an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go again.
This was the place my wife and I chose for our 3rd wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been happier about it. The Cellar at Duckworths is truly a unique experience from the normal "fancy eating", mainly due to the environment/ambiance of the restaurant. The food was 10/10 and the service was immaculate. I genuinely can't speak highly enough for it. I personally don't drink alcohol buy their mocktails were incredible. My wife had two drinks and loved them both as well. Rest assured if you partake in drinking there will certainly be options for you. We already plan on coming back sometime and trying out different appetizers, entrees, and desserts. If the employees at the restaurant read this, thank you for making our anniversary dinner exceptional!
As always amazing food and drinks. Try the jalapeno bacon and scallops, wow! The tomahawk is delicious too! The service is always strong, and the drinks are made from scratch as they were many moons ago. A must visit.
Food was just ok. They charged me $10 per scallop that I added on to my steak entree. I got 2 Scallops after being told they were a good size. The scallops were wayyyyy smaller than I expected and they were extremely overcooked. Now if you're charging $10 per scallop you need to AT LEAST know how to cook them! The ambiance was nice. I made reservations online for a tabletop and the hostess sat me at a shared seating like booth. That should have been my red flag number one. Why make reservations and you give me an option of a high top, but you want to sit me wherever you want to?? But I digress because I was able to tell my server and we were changed to a high top. Drinks were too tier but the food just wasn't that great. I was so disappointed.
