Gino's East

Test after test, again and again, I find Gino's East to be the best Chicago style pizza. The crust is flaky and flavorful and the sauce is vibrant with great tomato flavor that remonds me of quality Neopolitan pizza. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's not but the pizza comes out with consistently high quality. Usually I'm with a group and we get a full sized pizza, this time I was alone and had the lunch special. Even this mini version delivers. Every time I get to Chicago, this is a stop on my list. Don't miss it.

A Chicago classic. The deep dish is with the wait.

My group (15 people) and I arrived to Gino’s East today 6/11/2026 at 1:20pm and was greeted rudely by the young female hostess. We had a 1:30pm reservation and was told that we had to wait because we were early. We stood to the side and was told that we were in the way of the other customers that were coming in. After she sat several groups of people that came in after us, she then said rudely for us to wait outside because we were in the way. It was raining outside, it was past our reservation time, and there was no effort to seat us. I spoke to the manager who said she was sorry that it happened but she didn’t try to make it right. We decided to walk down the street to Giordanos and had a wonderful time! And the $700 that we spent at Giordanos was well worth it! That hostess needs customer service training!

MARCO was our waiter and served us excellently. The atmosphere is super cool with all the signatures on the walls. The PIZZA is to die for. Deep dish ONLY. You Must. The crust is something else. It was an hour wait for the pizza so we also had mozz sticks and calamari. 100/10

Made reservations for a group of 16 for our staff outing. Upon arrival, the woman checking us in was extremely rude and insisted that we wait outside in the rain because our reservation “wasn’t ready,” even though we arrived on time. Meanwhile, other patrons were allowed to wait inside in the same area we were told we couldn’t use. From the moment we walked in, her attitude was nasty — eye rolling, grunting, and overall disrespectful behavior. To make matters worse, the delay was due to their own lack of preparation, not us being late. When we spoke to the manager, the only response we received was a simple “sorry,” with no real attempt to resolve the situation. We ultimately decided to leave. Please be mindful of where you spend your money, especially as people of color — specifically Black patrons. No one should be treated with disrespect when supporting a business.

No organic/biodynamically grown menu. This is all poisoned by chemical pesticides and herbicides, which harm human health slowly over time.

I have always thought Gino’s East had to be the best of the Chicago style pizza restaurants, but on my most recent trip I decided to put this to the test and try all of the heavy hitters. I can now confidently and scientifically say that Gino’s is the best. The highlight will always be the crust—so flavorful and the perfect texture—but the cheese and sauce are also excellent. In my opinion, Gino’s is the best pizza in the world. We also tried the spinach sticks (mozzerella sticks with spinach blend), and oh my goodness. I will dream about them. They are a must try!
