First, the good. The people that work there are extremely friendly and helpful, the food is amazing. I don't know about all of the rooms, we stayed in one of the champagne Towers rooms, so our breakfast and our dinner was included each night. There are round beds in the rooms and surprisingly extremely comfortable. They have many amenities on site, live dj's, an arcade, swimming, archery, etc. Now the bad part, I believe on the website it says you can check in at 3:00, we couldn't check in until 5:00 cuz there was not a room ready, they did comp us a complimentary meal at their Lounge, which was very nice. The rooms themselves, they are relatively clean, the problem is that they are very dated, picture the 70's. Burn holes in the sofas in the living room, mirrors above the bed that looked as though they haven't been cleaned in years. If you like to take a shower with your partner there is no way to do that, the shower is big enough it's just the way the shower head is positioned you will definitely be showering alone. The champagne glass that is a jetted tub is definitely something neat to do, but it is just a novelty. The property itself is starting to look very rundown, many closed up rooms, it appears that all of the employees are trying very hard to keep this place afloat and working the best they can but it is also very obvious that the owners are not putting any money back into this place. Would we stay here again.. yes, but definitely not at the price we paid which was a little over $1,000 for a Saturday and Sunday night, and that was with a military discount.
We visited this resort 20 years ago when it was owned by Caesar’s….it has been sold, and it is evident that the new owner is struggling. The buildings in the outside are in disrepair. However…our stay was amazing! our room was beautiful, and everything worked. Our bathroom shower needs a good cleaning, but the water pressure and temperature were fine, and the bed was super comfy. The meals…omg! Huge salad buffet for dinner, and plentiful breakfast buffet! The outdoor pools were spotless, and the grounds were immaculate! Deer and groundhogs everywhere! Pick up some deer food at the Gift Shop; the deer will eat out of your hand!
We have been coming here for over 8 years. Im not sure if as of recent they changed management companies but alot has changed since our trip in February and now June. It looks like a ghost town almost now. The food at dinner has changed recipes or chefs not sure which but it wasn't good. The service for dinner on the other had such as Dennis was amazing. The gift shop Is barren because they aren't allowed to order anything. The rooms aren't taken care of. Its such a shame to see this place left go the way it is and the poor employees hands are tied because corporate controls everything. This location is a beautiful place with Soooooooooo much potential. Im sure if they actually cared to fix it up it would bring the crowd in like it was when we first were there over 8 yrs ago. We come 2 to 3 times a year but afraid today might be our last day there. The pine cottages also have a ton of potential not to mention the big buildings facing the lake im sure would sell out quickly. DO BETTER COVE HAVEN. Your staff and customers deserve better. Oh and there use to be dinner entertainment....nope not anymore....the drinks are watered way down. There are no other places where its adult only around this could really be something again. The owner made a ton off the one they sold and put zero into the other one. Thats greed and someone who doesn't care at all.
We saw ads for this place years ago when my wife and I were married 30 years ago. For the anniversary we decided to give it a try. The problem is this place stayed in a time capsule exactly 30 years ago. Everything is dated and seriously in need of makeover. There are no activities that will last long enough to keep our attention. We reserved for 2 nights but left after 1 night. The bed wasn't comfortable and the pillows should be replaced with new ones. There are not a lot of things going on around the area and to venture out through the woods requires 1 hour drive. While I like the place overall but I wouldn't come back for 2nd trip
