Very nice location staff is kind of weird

We spent several days at this hotel as a family in August 2026. Let's start with the good points: the rooms are large, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and the bathrooms particularly spacious. The hotel is beautifully decorated and remarkably well located, with a superb view of the High Line, the city, and the Hudson River. The rooftop pool is lovely, with a breathtaking view. Be warned, however: the lounge chairs and deck chairs are not free, even for hotel guests—$140 for two lounge chairs for three hours. The only free seating is in full sun, without umbrellas. The service, however, is subpar, and that's what lingers most about the stay. The arrival sets the tone: despite the voucher issued by our travel agency, the receptionist informs us that no rooms are reserved in our name and demands that we book and pay for two rooms immediately, in a very unpleasant manner. The supervisor who came to address the problem didn't show up, was arrogant, and didn't apologize. It took about an hour and the intervention of a third party to resolve the situation, without any help whatsoever with our luggage, which we carried up ourselves. The bar on the top floor was equally unpleasant. The person who greeted us was casual and unfriendly, seating us directly in front of the air conditioning. The waitress readily agreed to move us to armchairs—but the bar manager rudely removed us from them, behaving more like a nightclub bouncer than the manager of an establishment of this caliber, and put us back at an uncomfortable table. These armchairs were still empty when we went back downstairs. The housekeeping staff then misplaced the stuffed animal my son had brought—we were told it had gone in the wash. When we asked for it back, we were told there was nothing to be done; I called them back, they laughed and hung up on me. It took two hours and the intervention of someone from outside the hotel to get it back, but it still hadn't been cleaned—strange! On the morning of our departure, we almost missed our flight. The reception demanded that I pay for the entire stay, claiming that my travel agency hadn't paid, even though the voucher had been issued and presented. We wasted a considerable amount of time; I contacted my agency, and despite this, the hotel still tried to charge the card I'd left as a deposit. Several different amounts were quoted to me, another card was used for extras, and I left for the airport without any written confirmation of what had been charged—I didn't want to miss my flight. Reception, breakfast, bar: everywhere the same nonchalance and the same unfriendly attitude. They treat you with disdain, you're not valued, and nobody tries to resolve anything. A beautiful hotel, but staff who ruined our stay — and at this price point, that's unacceptable.

We lived at this dreamy hotel for 4 months while our apt was being renovated. We stayed in a Manhattan Suite (essentially a one-bed, 1.5 bath). It was luxurious, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. The staff— from the owner, Michael, to his incredible team— the mgmt (i ❤️ you, Ces!) the wonderful front desk (special shout out to Erica), allll doormen, concierge, restaurant staff, security, housekeeping —they made us feel welcome and appreciated every day. They were fun and warm and thoughtful, sending champagne on our anniversary, frequently checking on how our renovation was going, checking in to ask about family members who were having medical issues etc. Always went the extra mile to make us feel special, were adorably affectionate with our little poodle, who they called The Mayor. Can’t say enough good things. The housekeeping (esp London) was so sweet and thoughtful, always washing our dog’s bowl and fluffing up his little bed. Obsessed with the location (you can’t imagine how amazing it is!) & their gorgeous rooftop pool, bar, sushi restaurant, gym with IR sauna that I’d use late at night before bed (heaven), Estelle’s (their newest restaurant), and the absolutely gorgeous, private workspace with its very own bar and cafe. I could go on and on. We love you guys! Thank you SOOO MUCH for everything!!

Start with pros Clean Great location Cons Charge 250$ for the loungers by the pool Closes at 12pm for under 18’s. I understand they want an adult vibe but this should be at least 3pm. We arrived to a double room with one bed for 4 people they could clearly see from our booking that we were 4 people. They did give us a room with two double beds but the beds are tiny. Who sleeps in small doubles now! Most of the rooms here are tiny doubles. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room no complementary water for a £500 a night hotel this is terrible. The hair dryer in the room is awful and my English one wouldn’t work. They did provide a better one when I complained but just provide in the first place. Just these few finishing touches would make this a 5 star review place! Change the beds! Tea and coffee and stop being greedy charging for beds! It’s not difficult

Gansevoort Meatpacking doesn't deserve to be a 5 star hotel in Manhattan. The service is consistently poor. The amenities including the pool on the roof top are fine in theory. In practice, it was too crowded to partake. I believe they sell passes to individuals who are not staying at the hotel. Again not a 5 star experience.

The best

Insanely poor room service. Waited over an hour for a simple flat bread. It never came. Nice atmosphere otherwise.
