La NYC Pride March è quella con la linea più diretta all'inizio del movimento. La prima marcia, nel giugno 1970, segnò un anno dalla rivolta di Stonewall, e il percorso passa ancora davanti allo Stonewall Inn su Christopher Street. Heritage of Pride, la non profit gestita da volontari che la organizza, porta in strada circa 75.000 partecipanti da centinaia di gruppi. Questo la rende meno una parata da guardare per un'ora e più un intero pomeriggio di città che marcia.
La marcia si dirige a sud lungo la Fifth Avenue, svolta a ovest lungo l'8th Street attraverso Greenwich Village, passa Stonewall e termina nella parte ovest del Village. Guardare è gratis, così come lo è PrideFest, la fiera di strada che si tiene nel Village lo stesso giorno. Youth Pride, per ragazzi dai 13 ai 24 anni, si svolge il sabato. La parte a pagamento sono le grandi feste danzanti di NYC Pride, gli eventi sui rooftop e le feste in hotel che affollano il weekend. Se le parate aziendali non fanno per voi, la marcia di base Queer Liberation March, che si svolge separatamente, è l'alternativa politica.
La marcia si tiene l'ultima domenica di giugno, chiudendo un mese di eventi Pride. Aspettatevi caldo e umidità, poca ombra sulla Fifth Avenue e lunghe attese alle barricate; portate acqua e scegliete un posto presto, idealmente a sud della 14th Street, dove la folla è più locale. I prezzi degli hotel salgono in tutta Manhattan quel weekend, quindi prenotate con largo anticipo o alloggiate a Brooklyn o Queens su una linea della metropolitana diretta.
La marcia del 2026 si è svolta domenica 28 giugno 2026, il 57° anniversario di Stonewall, con il tema "For All of Us" (Per Tutti Noi), una frase tratta da Marsha P. Johnson. I grand marshal erano Dominique Jackson, Peppermint, Bernie Wagenblast, Bowen Yang e il gruppo di attivisti Gays Against Guns. La TV locale ha riportato più di un milione di persone presenti quel giorno. La data del 2027 non era stata ancora annunciata al momento della nostra verifica.
