TRYP by Wyndham Pittsburgh/Lawrenceville Boutique Hotel

We came here for Morgan Wallen and the staff was so friendly, the food at the restaurant for breakfast was so good. We had the strawberry shortcake latte, the breakfast sandwich, French toast and bacon and everything was super tasty. Rooms were comfortable and dark. Thank you so much!

Overall, a very nice hotel. I would definitely stay here again. It’s a decent location considering there’s a lot of things you walk to Lawrenceville.

Mattress is extremely uncomfortable. They are too soft and don’t provide any support to the lumbar and neck. I have to stay here once a year for business and every time I couldn’t get good sleep. I’ve never had issue with sleeping at home or at other hotels. This hotel just keeps setting my records of sleeplessness.

Absolutely loved this hotel. My husband and ai got a room because of a family emergency and they not only discounted us, but were so helpful in a such a hard time. We are for sure planning to come back!

I booked three rooms for my sister’s bachelorette weekend and our experience started off terribly before we even got checked in. We arrived around 2:30 PM, knowing we were a little early, and politely asked if any rooms were available. Drew, who we later found out was the manager, immediately shut us down with “check-in is at 3” and offered zero hospitality or flexibility. What made it worse was that while we sat waiting in the tiny lobby, we watched him check in several other guests before 3 PM. At 2:51 PM, I went back up to ask if maybe just one room was ready, and he smugly responded, “It’s 2:51.” The attitude was completely unnecessary. The most frustrating part? The second Drew disappeared into the back, another employee came out, checked the system, and casually said, “Oh yeah, looks like they’re all ready.” So apparently the rooms WERE available — Drew simply chose not to help us. For a hotel manager to treat guests this way, especially a group spending money on multiple rooms for a special weekend, is unacceptable. Customer service and basic courtesy clearly don’t matter here. I would not stay here again based on this interaction alone.

We loved this hotel. Amazing employees!y brother had his wedding here and everyone was so wonderful and always very helpful. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

No refridge in room, no chair, would like continental breakfast

Comfortable boutique hotel with modern furnishings in a former school building. The kids lockers still line the hallways! My queen room was on the small size but perfect for short stays. Comfy bed and pillows. Nice bath facilities. Terrific location, though busy around rush hours, the hotel is convenient to downtown, the Strip District, north shore, and Pittsburgh’s’ east end. Reasonable room rates though are offset by $32 valet parking fee. Fitness room is adequate for most people. Didn’t sample the paid breakfast or rooftop lounge but they appear nice. I would definitely stay here again.

Great staff and location. I recommend a higher room if you don’t like city noise. Really comfortable beds and tremendously walkable location.

I chose this hotel because it was marketed as a boutique and amenity-rich destination. While the staff is friendly and the Lawrenceville location is good, the actual experience was a failure. Frankly, even if they comped the entire stay I wouldn’t go back. THE AMENITY-RICH MYTH The hotel provides a long list of amenities to justify its rates, but they are almost all either basic industry standards or poorly executed services. * THE EXPECTED LIST: They boast about having elevators (an ADA requirement), a 24-hour front desk, and Wi-Fi. These are not amenities; they are the bare minimum. * THE FLAGRANT LIE: They advertise "Daily Housekeeping," but in reality, rooms were only cleaned every 2-3 days. * THE INACCESSIBLE: The fitness center is poorly maintained with broken equipment, a slow water dispenser, and stocked out of towels. The hot breakfast and cafe have restricted hours (not opening until 7:00 AM) and sluggish service (expect 20-30 mins!). Lobby offerings for basic refrigerated food (salads, sandwiches) is always empty. THE ROOM: FORM OVER FUNCTION As a business traveler, the room was functionally useless. * NO WORKSPACE: There is no chair or desk, just a short and backless stool. * NO STORAGE: There is no dresser or closet; just a small rack that is inadequate for anyone staying more than one night. * NO BASICS: No refrigerator or microwave in-room, and you have to trek to the front desk just to request ice. * POOR CONSTRUCTION: The walls are paper-thin. I was kept awake by noise from the lobby, the street, and an incredibly loud HVAC unit. Even the shower was a letdown, featuring a fixed elevated rain-head with weak pressure and no adjustable spray options or wand. THE VERDICT The friendly staff cannot compensate for a building that is fundamentally poorly designed. This hotel prioritizes a "lifestyle" aesthetic over basic guest comfort. If you need a functional room where you can hang up your clothes, sit in an actual chair, or get a quiet night's sleep, look elsewhere.

Absolutely great stay. One major issue is no fridge in the room and you have to ask the front desk for ice. I aways need something cold to drink. The vibe the decor the location is 10/10
