The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa - A Historic Hotel of America

Laughable they claim to be a 4 star hotel. The rock hard spring mattress and deflated pillows will make you wonder if sleeping on the floor would be more a comfortable option. Rooms are dated and in need of renovation. I can’t stress enough how uncomfortable the beds are. Save your money, do not stay here.

We stayed in the Jefferson room. While spacious, the furniture was oddly placed, and the living room rug was in the bathroom. There were mismatched lamp shades, broken blind slats, and very few outlets. This was not a comfortable stay. I expect better at this price point.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel has a calm, relaxed vibe that made it easy to unwind after a long day. The decor felt modern without being cold, and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff was welcoming from the moment I arrived and gave great local recommendations. My room was quiet and comfortable, with all the essentials. It’s not overly fancy, but it’s well-run and clearly cared for. Would absolutely return.

The place could be amazing, but unfortunately it gives off the vibe of "just maintaining", and a place past its best days. We had some scheduling snafus and the staff was not well trained to handle and problem solve the issues. The mattress in the Henhouse room was terrible. Won't be coming back.

I went to the Inn to purchase a gift card to their Spa. I called ahead and the Spa told me to go to the front desk and they would be able to sell me the gift card. Upon arrival the front desk lady sent me to the Spa. I told her I knew what I needed and didn't need to go there. Stood in the spa for several minutes, but there was no one there. Walked back to the front desk to ask the lady to sell me the gift card. She, huffed, told me she was in the middle of something and that's why she sent me to the spa. The place was empty. No one else was there. I left without the gift. I would regret spending money and sending a friend to be treated the same. If you want to be high end, you need to up your service.

We started coming here for our first anniversary. We celebrated our 7th consecutive here. It is a special place!

The inn itself is cute and the rooms are adorable. The beds and pillows are AWFUL. The pillows are just fluff. I had to use a blanket to try and put some support under one. The bed is the worst I’ve slept on. I’m a big fan of firm beds. But this is just springs. You feel every single one of them. We hardly slept and feel like we need massages just from laying on this bed all night. Everyone was nice on check in and we didn’t use them for anything else. The window in the room also just falls open from the top when you try and open it. It was so hot we needed some type of air flow even with the heat turned all the way down. I might come back and try a different room. But I’d bring my own pillows and a mattress topper. The tv was also awful. If we wanted to lay in bed and watch a movie we couldn’t. We had planned on lounging until check out time, but are getting out as quick as possible now

I would give 0 Stars if I could! The bed was absolutely awful, the tv is smaller than a 12X12 picture frame, the front desk employee was rude, & her customer service was dated.

Warning!!! ⚠️ this place is not child and handicap, friendly. No ramp for a stroller or a wheelchair only concrete steps. The first day we checked in my seven-year-old daughter slipped from the slippery unsalted concrete steps and she hurt her hip, chin and ankle. It was so scary and devastating for us. (See picture below) they should list it on their website as an adults only, do yourself a favor do not bring your children there you will regret it like we did.

for the price .. I expected an exceptional B&B with real (wood, gas) fireplaces in the hi end suites that I booked. Was shocked to learn at check in that there hasn't been breakfast since 2020. And the "fireplace" was some junky electric thing mounted on the hearth .. that put out no heat. VERY expensive for basically just a bed with sitting room. Caveat Emptor.

Stayed in the Coleman suite. Bed/mattress was awful, felt like a box spring I could feel the wood/springs, had no support or padding at all. I slept in the chair and checked out as soon as I could in the morning so I could get home and sleep. For this sort of place I expected much more.
