ITC Narmada, a Luxury Collection Hotel

I went for dinner but returned disappointed like my previous visits. Now, as a family we decided never to dine at ITC Narmada. Absolutely tasteless food.

I am a Marriot Platinum member & My check in experience at ITC Narmada was deeply disappointing. Staff member Rishika handled the confiscation of our liquor bottle in an unnecessarily confrontational, rude and unprofessional manner. I understand Gujarat’s prohibition laws, However, scanning guest’s luggage should be for safety and security purposes & not to cause harassment. Why scrutinise a duty-free liquor bottle purchased at Ahmedabad airport and subject a paying guests to unnecessary stress? If hotel policies prohibit bringing such items in your suitcase / luggage, guests must be informed clearly before arrival or at the time of booking. The staff especially Rishika, acted as though they had busted a criminal racket & uncovered some prized illegal contraband in a criminal’s suitcase! She was screaming at her lungs capacity at front desk - don’t u know Gujrat is a dry state! Utterly absurd, insulting, and unbecoming of a luxury hotel. And height of absurdity was - We were asked to obtain a liquor permit, visit the wine shop at Hyatt Hotel ( 2 kms from ITC Narmada), purchase liquor, and bring it to ITC Narmada—but the duty-free bottle we had already purchased at Ahmedabad airport will remain confiscated. How does this policy make any practical sense, and why were guests subjected to such unnecessary inconvenience? Eventually when higher authorities intervened they allowed the confiscated sealed bottel & I m a non Gujrat resident! Sadly, we waste too much time making life difficult for one another in India for such small things! Abroad, everyday interactions often feel more cordial & constructive with greater respect for people’s time and dignity!
