Gay Bars & Clubs in Duisburg
Duisburg isn’t Cologne or Berlin. The gay scene here is small—a few bars in the Dellviertel, one club in Meiderich—and that’s it. But the places that do exist are unpretentious, cheap, and full of regulars. If you want neon and circuit parties, take the train to Düsseldorf. If you just want a beer with locals, stay put.
Where the Scene Is
Everything’s in the Dellviertel, south of the Innenstadt, within a few blocks of Realschulstraße and König-Heinrich-Platz. The only exception is Gay Club Bermuda, which sits alone in Meiderich.
The Bars
Gaststätte Harlekin "ob so oder so"
Realschulstraße 16. The last proper gay bar in Duisburg, and the only one you can rely on. 130 square metres of karaoke, cheap drinks, and a crowd that’s been coming for years. Hours change, so check before you go.
Pampus
Open since the late 60s. Mixed but gay-leaning, more about conversation than dancing. A two-minute walk from Harlekin, which makes the Dellviertel’s entire gay scene exactly two bars.
Gay Club Bermuda
Emmericher Straße 85, Meiderich. The city’s only gay club, with a dance floor and themed nights. Stays open late on weekends. Still small, still low-key—just with more glitter.
Adult & Cruising
Gayworld Duisburg (Krummacherstraße 44) is a sex shop with an adult cinema, cruising cabins, and a darkroom. Men only, 18+. No sauna in Duisburg—head to Düsseldorf or Essen for that.
Practical Tips
Getting around: The Dellviertel bars are a 10-minute walk from Duisburg Hauptbahnhof, or a quick tram ride. Ages: 18+ everywhere. Dress: Jeans are fine. Community: Pink Power e.V. and DUPride e.V. (which runs CSD Duisburg in late July) post updates on events and meetups.
