Pier Paolo Pasolini Memorial — Ostia

This memorial stands at the Idroscalo di Ostia, the old seaplane base at the mouth of the Tiber outside Rome, where the openly gay filmmaker and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini was murdered on the night of 1 to 2 November 1975. A 17-year-old, Pino Pelosi, was convicted, but he retracted his confession in 2005 and many believe others were involved. The case has never been fully resolved. The memorial sits in a small park in a run-down coastal area, reachable by car or taxi from Ostia. Go in daylight; there are no facilities on site.
