Gay Center is an LGBTQ+ community centre at Via Nicola Zabaglia 14 in Testaccio, Rome. It works as an umbrella for several associations under one roof. It runs Gay Help Line (800 713 713), a free national helpline for people facing homophobia or transphobia. It also runs Refuge LGBT, a shelter project for young people thrown out by their families, along with health, social and cultural activities. It is a working community space and not a bar. I went there today to request asylum as an LGBT refugee. The rude employee instead started giving me the numbers of alternative associations I hadn't asked for. I asked her, "Do you guarantee they'll help me there?" She said, "No." If I came to you in person, why do I need the numbers of organizations that have nothing to do with you? Basically, it was a waste of time; no help. I could have found the numbers and addresses of other similar organizations online. I don't need to come to you for that.
