Gnejna Bay

Gnejna Bay is a sandy cove on Malta's west coast near Mgarr, about 13 km from St. Julian's. The main beach is a family spot with seasonal cafes, sunbeds and parking. The gay and naturist crowd heads instead to the quieter rocky ledges on the northern side below the cliffs towards Ras il-Qarraba, reached by a short cliff path. That stretch has been an informal gay and nudist spot for years. There are no facilities on the rocks, so bring water, shade and sturdy shoes for the path. Nudity is not legal in Malta and is only quietly tolerated at out-of-the-way sections, so keep covered near the main beach and be discreet.
