Fantastic hotel brilliantly located walking distance from the heart of Sitges and the beaches . Very helpful and polite staff on check in Beautifully presented and immaculately clean with very efficient air conditioning. Small pool and garden which we saw and didn’t use . Lovely breakfast with a decent selection of. Parking available on street for free At this very sensible price what more can you ask . Highly recommended
I have no positive reviews about this hotel. It has absolutely nothing to do with the photos provided. I found used clothes tags in the drawers, the shower water was constantly coming out and the latch on the terrace was not working. There were even fleas on the pillow. The sofa is extremely uncomfortable, to the point of not being able to sit, and they also use repurposed military-looking furniture. It has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a “hotel”, if you can call it that.
It was me and my partner the weekend and a spectacular hotel, we loved the decor, the treatment of the receptionists, the cleanliness, has very good Wi-Fi the location is super good and you can park, I RECOMMEND!
When you feel like you're home. Staff, room, facilities to work. The perfect location, 5 minutes from the center in residential area by the sea.The breakfast surprises, buffet with full selection of products. Cleanliness, kindness. 7 unforgettable days. I recommend for small format meetings. It's got everything!
We were in a hotel within walking distance of the railway station. The Galeon. Just a note to remember, the hotel has an annexe in the street running parallel. The room was more than adequate. A little tired but ok for a few days stay. The breakfast was first class, a large range of food to choose from. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was ideal, everything within walking distance. Sitches is well worth a visit, great little shops and some very good restaurants.
We chose this for its quiet location and the pool area. We caught the bus from Barcelona airport, and got off by the garden centre which is only a short walk to the hotel. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke excellent English. We booked a "room with garden" which was in the main house, and did have a door opening onto a little bit of garden, with outside table and chairs, which was very nice, but we did get bitten in the late afternoon / early evening, so if you're booking one of those rooms, it's worth taking some insect repellent. The double bed was very large. The wardrobe had some hanging space and some shelf space - plenty of room as we only had a few days worth of shorts and T-shirts. The bathroom was huge with a rain shower, and little paper pyramids of hair/body wash and soap provided. Towels were changed regularly. The only waste bin is a small one in the bathroom, but when we had rubbish too big to fit in there, we just left it by the bin and the cleaner took it away, so that wasn't a problem. It's a very pleasant 20-min walk along the promenade to the old town. There are restaurants and bars and beaches before you get there, and also beyond. The pool was open 9am-9pm. We didn't go in (was a bit cool for that in October, although the daytime temperatures were great) but did enjoy sunbathing on the very comfortable loungers around it. Would stay here again.
Was a little concerned after reading reviews regarding the family rooms, but on arrival found the two bedroom apartment to be great. Large lounge and large TV. One double bedroom and one twin bedroom. Balcony was massive with view over a quiet area at the back. No lift, but no issue for us. There was a fridge, dining table and disposable cups. No other self catering supplies. A little bit of noise at night from people going up and down the stairs. The room we had was in a block behind the main hotel, which had a vending machine and there is restaurant/cafe on site offering continental breakfast, pizza, burgers and sandwiches. There are no other local restaurants. There is a small outdoor pool and bikes to rent. Nearest supermarket we found was about 1 km away. The beach is 5 min walk .
The room we were given was for children as everything was at inconceivable heights the windows were shoulders down the candles were 25 cm from the floor and the worst the bathroom that was closed without the possibility of opening a window was sealed
Horrible experience. After two months traveling in Spain, this was by far the worst stay. The rooms are tiny, the shower has no shelf so you leave your soap on the floor, and the photos online are misleading. When I complained, they told me I was “too big” and the manager was extremely rude.
Deplorable Welcoming... WARNING...you have screens in the room that control your whole life...decide on the air conditioning or not...and ESPECIALLY WARNING...decide whether or not your room is made by the Room Service...if you do not "click well" the room is not made yet not mentioned in the choice of rates...view of the hotel dump for the same price! At 600€ the 2 bedrooms ... nice catch nigades... flee
It's all good 👍

Even though I didn’t stay at Axel Hotel Barcelona, I spent an afternoon enjoying their rooftop pool and bar, and it was such a great experience that I would absolutely consider staying here on a future trip. The rooftop is the perfect place to relax on a hot Barcelona day. The pool area is comfortable, the bar serves great drinks, and the atmosphere is welcoming, friendly, and laid-back. Whether you’re looking to cool off, enjoy the sunshine, or just unwind with a cocktail, it’s a fantastic spot to spend a few hours. One of the biggest advantages is the location. The hotel is in a prime, central area of Barcelona and within walking distance of so many attractions, restaurants, shops, and nightlife. It makes an excellent home base for exploring the city. The staff and guests created a warm and inclusive environment, and I felt welcome from the moment I arrived. Based on my experience at the rooftop alone, I would definitely consider booking a stay here next time I’m in Barcelona.
Such a fun rooftop bar! Great vibes, great bartenders and great drinks. Will always love returning here.
At 10:30 AM there's no bar service for a coffee... That's exclusivity, isn't it?
Amazing hotel and a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff were professional, welcoming, and always ready to help. Special thanks to Adrià for the excellent service. Highly recommended! we would happily stay here again!
The hotel was excellent, with a wonderful atmosphere and an amazing location that made it easy to access everything around the city. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Our flight was scheduled for the evening, so we needed somewhere to store our luggage while we explored the city. We asked if the hotel could help, and although many other hotels we have stayed at did not offer this service, they were happy to store our luggage for us. This was a huge convenience and saved us a lot of time and hassle. The room was comfortable and well maintained, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. A special thank you to Joaquin and his team for their excellent service and hospitality. We truly appreciated their help and would happily stay here again.
I would like to thank Joaquin and his team for treating us so nicely throughout the whole journey. Vibes are good around here, the rooftop is amazing during day and night. Definitely will comeback next time to try the pool and other facilities. I really recommend this place to stay either for short or long
Update: While I appreciate management’s response to my review, the fact that it was made sooner than a reply to an email sent weeks ago (still unanswered) is consistent with the experiences I mention below. It does not suggest a willingness to address feedback and improve. Original review: The location is excellent, and the building has a lot of potential. The bones of the room we were in, with both an open balcony and a small alcove with beautiful stained glass, were grand. The flooring in the main part of the room was a cheap veneer that seemed like it could peel off at any moment and the carpet in the alcove seemed dirty, which brought down the quality of the room, and some of the decor could also use an update. Being by far the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our two weeks in Spain — with others having private terraces or better amenities — it was disappointing. I think where I was most surprised by the experience was the poor service. I’m not a high-maintenance guest who demands to be treated like royalty, but there were basic failures. First of all, we never received hand soap. We asked maids, we checked after room service every day, and eventually we bought our own because we did not want to keep stepping into the shower to get bath gel. It was so strange. Secondly, we had travel disruptions on our way and they never responded to or even acknowledged our emails. Afterward, when we emailed the manager, we also went an extremely long time without hearing from them and had to CC another Axel email just to get a reply. Recent emails have also gone unanswered for very long periods. Again, very unusually poor service for something that is low effort. Finally, what was the most surprising experience was when my husband asked where we might go nearby to hail a taxi. The front desk person told him it was not his job to know that. I’m not even sure what more to say because it was so hilariously bad. Again, this seems to be a unique failure of this location. We stayed at the newer Axel in Valencia and had a thoroughly positive experience. This one seems to be showing its age and mismanagement. Maybe try 2 if you still want an Axel in Barcelona.
Friendly staff, nice details, good breakfast and a lovely bar and rooftop terrace, also nice other guests.
Very nice place and excellent service
Everything was good, staff know what they are doing. The only downside was the bathroom size.
My wife and I had an excellent stay! Initially, we were a little apprehensive due to the hotel's concept, but we were pleasantly surprised. All the staff are very respectful and knowledgeable, especially Joaquin, who attended to us with great attention and promptness. The location is perfect for exploring Barcelona. Don't miss the Sky Bar; the experience there was super relaxed and enjoyable. It's definitely worth it!
The Axel is often hyped in the community – after our stay, we unfortunately can't quite understand why. The hotel feels a bit dated overall. On the plus side, the location is very central and convenient, with many things within easy walking distance. Check-in was rather impersonal and lacked customer service. Our room was very dark, and the bathroom was very noisy. The rooftop pool area also disappointed us: a small pool, an uninspiring view, and hardly any drinks at the bar. The spa area costs extra and, in our opinion, wasn't worth the money. The gym also seemed neglected, and there were no towels available. Even breakfast looked much better in the pictures than it did in reality. In conclusion: For the price and the hotel's reputation, we expected significantly more. Overall, a disappointing experience.
