As Flama's little brother, with a very intimate atmosphere, it has all the ingredients for a great lunch or dinner.
They have a good selection of rice dishes, although the dim lighting doesn't quite suit the occasion... But I'm sure they're excellent. We went for dinner. Our reservation was quite late, at 10 pm. Booking through the website is convenient, but you have to enter your credit card information.
The restaurant is small. The layout is U-shaped, with some private areas. We sat in one of the "common" areas.
Aside from the rice dishes, the menu is short, and there's nothing I particularly like. It has a few starters, meat, and fish dishes. It's Mediterranean cuisine, with some truly innovative options like the brain toasts or the kidneys in sherry. Since there were two of us, we couldn't try much because the main courses are quite substantial. We tried:
- Fried pig's ear with chimichurri. We experimented, and it didn't work out well. This dish is quite the show. They display the whole pig's ear and cut it up in front of the diners. Being fried, it was quite heavy, but it was also incredibly salty. Almost impossible to finish... Since we only ordered three things, it weighed us down considerably.
- Sea bass with white miso and cauliflower. The sea bass was perfectly cooked, with juicy flesh, grilled, and a nicely browned skin. The cauliflower sauce is served separately. I liked the combination. The touch of miso is subtle and I barely noticed it. The portion is very good for one person.
- Sirloin steak with Café de Paris sauce. A good-sized piece of meat. For two people who don't eat much... It comes with the spiced butter on the side. We finished it off with buttered fries and grated Comté cheese. Pure indulgence. It was very tasty and cooked perfectly. But enough to feed an army... I always prefer a smaller portion and pay a little less, even if it's not proportional, knowing that there won't be any leftovers. And we were lucky enough to try it, because when we went to order it on a Friday during the second evening seating, they had to confirm they still had it. We would have been a bit disappointed because there weren't many other options that suited us... We finished with a small dessert. They gave us a dessert menu; the dessert cart I'd read/seen on social media was "not found."
We chose the baba cremaet. Not for teetotalers or coffee haters. I personally loved it. It's a bit rich because of the cream soaking the sponge cake and the coffee ice cream, but who can resist a sweet treat!
It was a very pleasant dinner, to be honest. But I would definitely go back for lunch. It came to €45 per person. About what I expected. I would recommend it for special occasions because of its ambiance.
